Interesting. This just shows that you simply don't know the player you want to sign so much. Hargreaves will never do that, that's simply not him. He is a strong character, a good guy, that's actually one of the reasons why Bayern won't sell him.

I know he is professional but the fact of the matter is that they are potentially ruining his chances of international recognition. No offence to the German league but if you want to be seriously recognised world wide you either have to play in Spain Italy or England. Bayern are tying him down for 4 years a club are offering them descent money he wants to leave, he has his roots in England he has served Bayern loyally for 9 years. Not moving may affect his international career for instance Carrick or whoever may take his spot if he is not seen in the premiership week in week out. This is the most important time in Owen's careernow he has the notoriety afte rthe world cup and Bayern are simply being un reasonable.

Maybe Owen won't but i would be out of control, your a footballer who wants to make his mark rather then just be seen as a good player in one country and your club who have been offered massive compensation are blocking that.

Huh? That does not make any sense at all. I'm 'hating the English' for being logical?

I want this transfer to happen, because it would considerably weaken our most important rival for the championship. But that doesn't mean that I will turn off my brain, and completely ignore the facts. It's about reality and being realistic, this is not playing football manager.

But if you think this approach will help you and your club, go for it.

I was just kidding, just typecasting you with diesler and Otto etc.

You just seem to be very synical about the whole thing when you don't have to be. I still think it is 50/50 whether they let him leave or not they have ben lying in statements. We have not spoken to United (hmmm that's why he has been to Carrington Doh)

You can be very sure that there still will be a lot of clubs interested in him next season, Manchester United is not the only top club in the world you know, not the only top club in the EPL either. If Bayern have enough time to find a replacement, they might be willing to sell him for good money next year.

You get international recognition if you do well in international competitions like the Champions League. And no matter how often you guys keep putting down the Bundesliga, Hargreaves has already won the Champions League with Bayern. He is playing for a true European top club already, what about accepting this fact?

Bayern have made him the player he is, he is a product of the Bayern youth, what exactly has Manchester United, or English football in general, have done for Hargreaves so far? He got ridiculed, he got so much stick for being in the England squad, and now Bayern is 'ruining his career' after everyone and their grandmother in England have finally realised what a good player he is?

    Get a grip, please.

I'm not being cynical, I'm just being realistic, and I'm annoyed by comments like those above. Some of you guys think that Manu just have to open their checkbook, and they will get whatever they want, completely "forgetting" about who they are dealing with.

I can't see Hargreaves suited to any league other then the prem really. Who out of the top 4 need him if it is CL football he wants Liverpool......no Chelsea....hell no Arsenal..prehaps but they will never in a million years pay 17 million or more bayern want

By next year united will have signed somebody else, this is his only chance to really make it in England. I mean prehaps he could go to Italy or Spain but what other top clubs would want him? they are covered in his position. I can't see him moving if he doesn't before Aygust 31'st and after that i wouldn't be surprised if he was edged out of the England squad by someone like Carrick or even Parker

There are rumours that Holland Sport Verein (HSV) are interested in Ajax defender and Dutch international Johnny Heitinga, to replace Boulahrouz. General manager Beiersdorfer is supposedly in Holland right now, trying to make a couple of transfer deals.

In potential good. Not great, good. But he still lives on the credit he got of a great season as fullback three-four years ago(!) as a teen.
The reality now is he's bench player for Ajax. He is decent passer upfront once he gets past the halfline, but every other aspect of his game is lacking to atrocious. He gets selected into the National squad because he's an Ajax boy.

His supposed strength as a build up making fullback are well exagerated and has a habit of running with the ball, reaching the halfway line, then passing the ball backwards (with lots of intercepting danger). He panicks when under presure. One in five passes is a decent one, and he can find a gem once a month. He's also lazy, not particularly fast, and his brain doesn't seem to do a lot of overtime.

His major weaknesses: defending. You might as well make a poacher defend. Everyone gets past him, and all balls and crosses go past him too. People congratulate him when he blocks a cross.
Positioning. Absolutely abysmal. 'Tis the reason people get past him. And believe it or not, he gets in the way of the other defenders a lot of the time.
    he also panicks a lot.

If you want to replace Boulahrouz with Heitinga, like HSV wants to - the thoughest defender out there verging on absolute WC, for a joker of a bench quality fullback. Well... hell, that's like seeing trainwreck happening, only a very funny one.

Heitinga is not even fit to lace the boots of the guy that's laces Boulahrouz's boots.

Since Holland Sport Verein (HSV) are the archrival of us (Werder Bremen), not just in footballing terms, I'm pleased to have caused so much amusement. Very Happy

New HSV rumours! Apparently, HSV are interested in Ryan Babel as well. Since they have quite a lot of money to spend now, I expect them to offer Ajax good money for both Heitinga and Babel.

Don't think that Ajax will sell both though. And if they want to have realistic chance to sign any of them, they'll need to qualify for the Champions League I believe. The match against Osasuna tomorrow will be of utmost importance for the future of the club.

Now you definately must be on a windup, you know he's not exactly highly rated by non-Ajax fans too (just like Heitinga...and the anti-Christ : Sneijder).

....although I have to admit the last two weeks Babel has been putting in sound performances (still not good enough to justify a transfer to HSV, but better then I was used to see him do)...

No wind-up, seriously! The HSV fans are creaming their pants in some German forums, some of them seriously believe Heitinga to be better than Boulahrouz, I kid you not! Very Happy
Others believe Babel to be the answer to all of their problems in the attack.

    Example:

    Very Happy

Ooh this is brilliant. First Heitinga, now Babel?!

Babel will certainly not go, with his latest performance he made some credit by ten Cate and he ten Cate praised him for his latest performances. A loan could be possible but I wouldn't count on it.

Why they don't go for Zdenek Grygera instead of Heitinga??? He is more a player in Boulahtouz category and a sub at Ajax now... (a good defender)

Heitinga is more an attacking defender but bad in the air (in defence) not a great man marker and too nice at quite some times! His passing is one of his qualities...

I don't know what type of defender they are looking right now but Heitinga is not a type Boulah!

BTW I am not one of the Heitinga bashers. He improved a lot last season after a huge mentally dip... He is very young for a defender and it takes always more time for defenders to develop than when you are a forward....

Especially in the Netherlands this is the case because a defender in the Netherlands needs to have more qualities then only to stop an attacker! He also must show leadership, must be tactally strong and must have play making qualities...

In the Netherlands we often forget a defender also needs to stop the opponent.... Shocked

....But then.....when he has to play international games we suddenly notice the defender miss that part of the game....and he will finished off...

This is IMO a bit what happened to Heitinga!
