Bundesliga Round 1

Dear Friends,

the 44th Football Bundesliga will start tomorrow evening with a true classic. So it's time again to start a brand new Bundesliga Prediction Contest. I hope many of you will take part: As usual you get one point for a correct result and three points for a correct score. BUT to make things a little bit more interesting you can this time also place one of three different jokers, one per round for one of your predicted matches:

Joker 1: Doubles the points for the match where you did place the joker.

Joker 2: Doubles all points of a particular round IF you did predict the correct score of the match where you did place this joker. If you only got a correct result nothing happens, but if you were completely wrong you lose 5 points.

Joker 3: Doubles all points from all rounds you got so far in this contest IF you did predict the correct score of the match where you did place this joker. If you only got a correct result nothing happens, but if you were completely wrong you lose half of all the points you got so far in this contest.

To place a joker at a particular match, please add * for Joker 1, ** for Joker 2 and *** for Joker 3.

Oops, sorry, I did not notice Frank is already running a prediction contest for the Bundesliga. Normally I only read the European Leagues, the International and sometimes the Off-topic Board...

Hello Frank,

it's really nice of you to run it. I had a lot of work to do during the last couple of days, well at least much more then I had expected, I even forgot the Bundeliga is starting already today instead of tomorrow.
A pity though Tony aka FC Bayern did not even return for the new Bundesliga season. He always wrote a nice "introduction" for each Bundesliga week...oh well, I guess he's very busy these days working somewhere as a diplomat making this world a better place...

missing the match tonight as i´m flying back to the UK and its on in the german bar too, will there be regular friday night matches this season, or only where no ECL

you got a flight into the UK??

a lot of matches tomorrow are getting cancelled as they cant seem to get flights in and out of the UK

yeah easyjet into bristol, checked the website earlier and they seem to be flying into there at the moment

Yep, there will be a friday night match every Bundesliga weekend this season...

excellent, they´ll prob be on canal+ so easy to watch

Im a bit suprised Podolski is on the bench i thought he might have started.

Yeah those shirts are horrible, what colour shorts and socks do they wear with them??

Bayern 2-0 Dortmund ( Schweinsteiger 55mins)

Ended 2-0 to Bayern a good start for the Champions.

If Dortmund had actually used their chances, they could have come back to scrape at least one point.


Shame about Kehl's injury--let's hope it's not anything too serious.

Congrats Bayern, nice goals by Makaay and Schweinsteiger, both had a good game today. Bayern looked much better than in the pre season test matches, but the defence still needs to gel. Dortmund had quite a few excellent chances, they just didn't (or couldn't?) use them. Valdez wasting chances galore, for example, but that's nothing new to us Werder fans...

P.S.: The new Dortmund shirts are horrible indeed, I (and most of their own fans) agree.
