PSV Vs Liverpool Empty PSV Vs Liverpool

Post by Luis Thu Mar 29, 2007 7:27 pm

Might as well get this underway, it's probably the worst game of the round in many people's eyes, and I can understand why, after all Valencia - Chelsea sounds much more appealing right? and United - Roma will be special, Bayern-Milan is also a very good game on paper.

Never the less, Liverpool always seem to produce something on the European stage, they have an extra incentive this year also, seeing as domestically there's very little to play for, if we lose to Arsenal at the weekend then Europe will be the only focus of the season, last year we had the FA cup and were chasing second as well so maybe that played a part in the dissapointing last 16 exit to Benfica.

I thought away in Barcelona was one of our best tactical performances of the season, I was really pleased with how we played, I was delighted to see Benitez go with two strikers and everyone knew their individual role, it's yet another example of underestimation in this competition.

That brings me to tuesdays game and the tie in general, it's so vital for Liverpool that they do not under-estimate PSV, after all they are top of a strengthening Dutch league, Liverpool are favorites and rightly so but PSV will be dangerous, I can see Kuyt playing a major role seeing as he knows what PSV are about, he's hungry for goals (I don't think he's scored for Liverpool in europe yet, could be wrong) and it's about time the big boys stood up to the challenge.

The performance against Villa 2 weeks ago was not good enough, simple as that, maybe the players have lost the will to fight in the league now, which is so painfully a two horse race, but they must play to their maximum against PSV to come away with an advantage because at Anfield on a European night I wouldn't like to be an opposing team.

I'll be at the PSV home game in a few weeks time and I hope to have a relaxing evening, which is quite the oppisite of what I could describe the last European home game as.

    Prediction :

    PSV 1-1 Liverpool
    Liverpool 2-0 PSV

Is Alex out for this one? If so, that makes Liverpool favourites (yes, I rate him that highly) although Gomes is a class keeper.

The deciding factor will be Benitez's tactics. Will he line up offensively in Eindhoven as he did in Barcelona, or will it be a more cautious Liverpool line-up?

Ye, tis a shame that Drogba and Ronaldo aren't producing for us, oh sorry that's right we haven't bought them.

Are we not entertaining enough for you in Europe? try buying a DVD of the 2004/2005 season for Liverpool, you'll find such nights as Liverpool 3-1 Olympiacos, Liverpool 2-1 Juventus and that small game Liverpool 3-3 Milan, Liverpool win on penalties incase you don't know.

    Case closed.

They played him in the competition and he looked good.

Because PSV didn't see their wave of injuries coming (and loaned out three excellent young players) they never registered him at the UEFA, so he isn't eligble for the CL Doh

PSV managed only 13 points out of 13 matches in the league after the winterbreak, Ajax have closed the gap to 3 points with only four matches to go....

....it wouldn't surprise if PSV were to throw the matches against Liverpool. They can't risk another injury and need all players as fit as possible to win the title and thus play CL against next year.

The CL is generating so much money that PSV can't risk missing out on out it. So to ensure next years CL gravy train PSV has to give up this years chances of reaching the next stage...

    Good system ok

WTF, Liverpool are using Italian tactics :

Liverpool aast op PSV-talent Género Zeefuik

    3/4/2007 8 :22

Also PSV are obviously going to be happy to park the bus which will make for a very frustrating match.
