Never the less, Liverpool always seem to produce something on the European stage, they have an extra incentive this year also, seeing as domestically there's very little to play for, if we lose to Arsenal at the weekend then Europe will be the only focus of the season, last year we had the FA cup and were chasing second as well so maybe that played a part in the dissapointing last 16 exit to Benfica.
I thought away in Barcelona was one of our best tactical performances of the season, I was really pleased with how we played, I was delighted to see Benitez go with two strikers and everyone knew their individual role, it's yet another example of underestimation in this competition.
That brings me to tuesdays game and the tie in general, it's so vital for Liverpool that they do not under-estimate PSV, after all they are top of a strengthening Dutch league, Liverpool are favorites and rightly so but PSV will be dangerous, I can see Kuyt playing a major role seeing as he knows what PSV are about, he's hungry for goals (I don't think he's scored for Liverpool in europe yet, could be wrong) and it's about time the big boys stood up to the challenge.
The performance against Villa 2 weeks ago was not good enough, simple as that, maybe the players have lost the will to fight in the league now, which is so painfully a two horse race, but they must play to their maximum against PSV to come away with an advantage because at Anfield on a European night I wouldn't like to be an opposing team.
I'll be at the PSV home game in a few weeks time and I hope to have a relaxing evening, which is quite the oppisite of what I could describe the last European home game as.
Prediction :
PSV 1-1 Liverpool
Liverpool 2-0 PSV
