Can someone tell me what type of player Gekas is? Everytime I check the Bundesliga scores he seems to score. One-season wonder, or top-class?

It's yet to be seen. He'll most definitely move to one of the big Bundesliga clubs next season (Leverkusen the most likely destination), then we'll see if he still can keep that level.

But regardless of that, it's still amazing for him to be topscorer of the league playing for a relegation candidate like Bochum. Bochum are an attacking side though, not necessarily your typical end table club.

He is not an England striker... He doesn't work hard enough for that! He will be the next failing prospect in the EPL.....

Reliable - according to Dutch press (the reliable one that is) Bayern have expressed much interest in Alves.

I don't know. But if they can't get Toni or Klose, which is likely, there is a good chance that they will pay a good sum.

Some Bayern fans actually seem to prefer him over Klose and Toni, because of his younger age.

Sure? I thought Bayern fans don't know anything of Alves so they would prefer Toni or Klose over him.... Interesting!

Alves is 26 years! Not the youngest anymore for a player who plays in the Eredivise....

though, if you give him the freedom as a striker he would fit excellent in a team like Bayern. Don't let him work too hard because that's what they did in Sweden. He was all right there but he couldn't show his real qualities because of the work he had to do!

If he goes to England he probably fails because of this and because the EPL is rather tempo than skills and Alves is a skillful striker!

both Van Nistelrooij and Alves were considered to be midfielders until Heerenveen bought them and played them as strikers...

I can remember seeing the pre-season results from Heerenveen and they were talking about midfielder Alves. I thought "great a scoring midfielder, that's worth something in my fantasy football team". Then all of a sudden he was rated as a striker, so I didn't buy him (at that time, I did later on of course).

So Alves probably hasn't scored much in Sweden : he probably played there as a midfielder....
