It is because Verbeek he started to score. He changed the whole system 4-3-3 to 4-4-2 and let the team to play around him!

as far as i know he was a striker there as well but those stupid Ikea-lads let him work work work! Therefore he couldn't score that many goals!

Homegrown hero! Alves started his career playing for my fav club. He didn´t play more than 5 matches as a pro before we sold him to a swedish club. I´m pissed, but good luck to him.

Alfonso Alves is selected for the Brasilian squad.....Massive!
Unbelievable that a player from a club like Heerenveen can be selected for the worlds best squad (if you look at the players material)
Fully deserved though!
He is also selected in the ESM squad

Totti looks like he will win the golden boot after scoring twice on the last day of the season in the 4-3 win over Messina.
RVN is the only man that can stop him.

Come on Ruud!
I would rather him win it than Totti.
Forlan won it after leaving Man Utd, van Nistelrooy could easily match him.

Hopefuly Spanish managers will see this correlation of united strikers becoming top scorers in Spain in their first season and buy Smith for £15m.

Forlan always had quality its just that is game is ten times more suited to the Spanish League than the Premiership. Its no surprise that he is a success over there, I heard Barcelona were sniffing around him at one stage too.
I think Smith will end up and Newcastle or Villa, any fee over £5m is win, win, win.

We still are interested in Forlan. Last year he was Txiki's first choice (after Henry of course), but Rijkaard preferred Gudjohnsen. This year, Txiki is saying "told you so", so if Henry falls through again, expect us to bid 15-18 million euros for Forlan.

Forlan is a proven goalscorer in La Liga, Gudjohnsen was never a prolific player in his time he was more a creater for Hasslebaink and the others.
Rijkaard got it wrong it seems, the British Press are suggesting that Gudjohnsen is a target for Man Utd. Would that interest you? Or do you want him to stay.

I'm happy for him to stay, though some of us on the board (mainly oleguer) have said that Guddy would be better in Deco's role. Txiki also alluded to this in an interview recently saying, Gudjohnsen will stay, he gives us options. So maybe next season we'll see him play a bit more withdrawn.
But even though the player himself is also keen to stay, I think it would be silly if we don't seriously consider offers on the lines of 7-8 million (what we paid for him). Problem is, I can't see Man. Utd. wanting to sign him, and West Ham is the only other club that would be interested, can afford it, and he might be interested in himself. But the likelihood of that happening is quite low.
So in a long roundabout way I'm basically saying that I don't want him to stay 100%, but if he does I won't be unhappy.

Seriously if you want to regain your title next season, buy Smith he will take la liga by storm, like the other former united strikers. So I think £15m for a future La Liga top scorer is about right or you could swap him for that Argie kid, who likes to play volleyball every now and again.
On a serious note Fergie has an excellent record with buying strikers, I think its because he used to be one. However I dont know what he was thinking when he got Smith. Maybe he may do a Forlan and turn into a very good player, when he leaves.
Talking of Forlan, apparently Liverpool are apparently looking to sign him for £16m. I wish we had put a sell on clause, when we sold him or just loaned him to Villareal then sold him when he finished the season as golden boot winner. I would love it, if Liverpool paid that much money for him, especially after how much the pool fans slated him, despite scoring those 2 glorious goals at Anfield, when he was at united.

I would love it, if Smith went to Newcastle for 5-7m, mainly because we would have got rid of him, but also just to see Kimbos reaction.

I don't think we will go for Gudjohnsen as we have lots of attacking midfielders come forwards, I cant see us getting another one. I think we are in the market for a true striker, but there are not many about.
