Well done Rossoneri. Tremendous at the back and clinical with the 2 chances. Munich were surprisingly limp.

Man U here we come! cheers

They may well do that. Their team is younger, and they are in form.

    But experience counts for something.

Hopefully he'll have a match fit Saha to contend with in the SF. He can be a handful for anyone on his day. Makaay is gay ok

Ferguson will have to find way for Rooney and Ronaldo to keep being effective against Milan who really know how to defend that red line area middle 30 meters better than any team.

milan are always dangerous in cl because they have the most underrated and maybe even most important quality...experience. you saw last years when they didnt panic in the last mins against lyon and this time where they didnt panic and always knew what to do. you can go a long way with brains as milan have showed.

I think Man Utd will be favourites no doubt.

The Milan team is too old and doesnt have any pace, just like italy at the world cup Wink Seriously, all i hear every year is that the Milan team is too old yet theyve been the best team in the CL for the last 5 years now.

Dont mean to knock Milan, but this whole experience thing is so overated. They have won it once since the turn of the century (Real have won it more), they threw away a 4-1 lead to Depor and a 3-0 CL final HT lead to Liverpool. But last time I checked experience means you dont thow away those leads as you know how to kill of a team. In both those ties it appearde impossible to lose, but Milan managed it.

Porto, Liverpool and almost Arsenal won the CL with no experience. Barca won the CL last season with no semi final experience , knocking Milan out along the way. Its not like they were Real wining it 3 times in 5 years thats true experience as they actually won more than once.

the thing is that last year when i think many saw milan out against lyon they showed their experience by not panicing and just making long balls.this year again could have gone out easily but they know how to play these games. maybe the best to show how valuble it can be:

03/04 they were good enough and didnt need to relie on experience
04/05 against lyon and psv it was clear that they know how to do it at this level.
this year they do it again. against bayern in the first leg milan didnt play well and bayern were really defensive and they waited for all their chances and so all the chances they created were almost 100% chances even though they only created maybe 5-6 chances.
the problem this year is that they dont seem to have the old firepower. i dont think anyone is a favourite esp because man utd are at home in the first leg which can be very dangerous. also i think maybe the biggest danger to man utd are the hype they might get from the roma game.

I think what people are trying to say is that with Milan's experience they have achieved fantastic results and with some consistency. No team can claim their consistency over the last few seasons.

Yeah, but desire, abilty and beleif are just as important. Milan have been the most consistent team of the past 4 years, but it may also be a mental hurdle as well, as they have palyed so well and should have won it at least twice more, if they hadnt thrown the games away. But they havent, the fear of messing up big time again etc.

What I am trying to say is that CL experience is often overated. EG last season Arsenal kids knocked out the galaticos of real madrid who had more experience than any side since the Juve side of the 90s. If you play your best game then you usually win. Whoever wants it more will get to the final of the CL, all the teams now are equally matched, desire and luck is what will eventually seperate the winners from the losers.

Rez, no one is saying that experience is any guarantee. Just that it matters. A team which is going to play its 4th semifinal in 5 years has to be respected, and has a decent chance of playing its 3rd final in 5 years.

They may have been champions only once in this period, but the record is enviable.

I am just glad we won both our derbies, else this might have been unbearable Wink

    Exactly bluenine.

As a a coach and team you would like to win more often, but the most realistic target is to remain competitive. Milan have certainly done that and then some.

In that aspect, our record in Europe in the last 5 seaosns is phenomenal. The stats show it too.

Milan were too good for us - Hitzfeld

Bayern Munich coach Ottmar Hitzfeld admitted AC Milan had too much class and quality as his side bowed out of the Champions League after a 2-0 home defeat.

    AlexanderHassenstein/GettyImages
Clarence Seedorf fires home the opener'It's a very big disappointment,' he said.

'We got a 2-2 draw in Milan and we had great hope that we would advance. But we always knew that Milan can win away from home.

'We were unlucky not to score first. It may have been different then.

'They got a lot of confidence from those two goals and they have great players. We tried everything and we went out fighting, but Milan was clearly the better team.'

AC Milan will try to salvage national pride when they play Manchester United.

'Roma's loss was a shock to everyone and something nobody could have predicted,' he told a news conference after Milan beat Bayern Munich 2-0 in their quarter-final, second-leg tie to secure a 4-2 aggregate win and a clash with United.

'Our objective now is to keep Italy's head held high in Europe,' he said. 'We are pleased to be representing Italian soccer in the last four of the most important competition.'

Dutch midfielder Clarence Seedorf, who scored Milan's first goal and created the second with a deft backflick, said the Italian club's victory over United in the Champions League in the 2004-05 competition would stand them in good stead.

'After today we are only one step away from the final and I think Manchester United know Milan very well from a couple of years ago,' he said on German television.
