strangely happy with that result. not too much damage done and as someone has said the best moment was the final whistle. there are only so many hoofs onto drogba's head you can watch in 90 minutes

as for us, the second leg will be very different. gerrard was our best player but he didnt play where he was supposed to which pretty much ruined our shape. terry and carvalho had a carefree night. not reeally much to say because the only difference between the teams was donkey drogba. im still pretty confident about progressing

    didn't you watch ??

alonso , kuyt, gerrard and zenden were trying to play but we weren't moving it about quickly enough and chelsea were too deep for us to get behind them

zenden appeared to do ok but rafa missed a trick by not playing a better winger there. pennant and gonzalez would both have done a better job on the left and that was our main outlet all night. we probably also missed sissoko's energy as he ups the tempo

@ all kuyt lovers - i think tonight showed that he may not have enough to his game to be a threat at the highest level. he simply didn't do enough

But it will all be very different for us at anfield Ale

An artless game. One dimensional and unimaginative. Poor from both sides. A game so cack that the only positive was Drogba and he wasn't even that good.

Whats all this about Chelsea playing 21 games and Liverpool 4, pathetic! So he thinks that Liverpool have given up putting any effort in as they are out of the title race? And Liverpool shall chase Drogba around the pitch to get him booked? did they? Cara' suggested a dive once, but apart from that.....

He is classy in some ways, but really, when it comes to this sort of thing - Rafa puts him in his place.

you have to take into account that very few teams ever do well at stamford bridge.

jose hasn't lost a home league game since he's been there. the pitch is small and they make it very very difficult.

only the great barca team from last year have excelled there really.

I'm fucked off because I hate losing, I hate losing to arrogant $h!t's, I hate watching Liverpool play at Stamford bridge with the shite blue colours and the bland songs, it's a contrast to Anfield, we have the history, we have the atmosphere, we have the passion, Chelsea need to be put in their place once and for all and so does Jose.

We played fucking terrible tonight, I'll admit. Would I have taken 1-0 before the game? possiblly, 0-0 would of done me, 1-0 is ok, but it means we have to score 2 to win at Anfield, can we do that? it's going to be near impossible IMO, but with the 12th man that is the Anfield crowd anything can happen.

The key is getting a goal in the first half, if Chelsea get it then we can forget Athens, that's for sure, if we get it, the crowd will be fired the f@ck up and I wouldn't like to bet against Liverpool then.

We will have Finnan back, a player that we desperately missed tonight, I just hope we play to our full potential.

Tactics worked a treat tonight. Get in front, then frustrate the hell out of Liverpool. Defensively good, counter attacking was also very good.

    Anyway, Chelsea ratings:

Cech 7 - Little to do, other than the world class save from Gerrard.
Ferreira 5 - Too easy to go past him. 'Pool should have been so much more effective on his flank.
Carvalho 8 - Gave Kuyt, Bellamy no chance and was superb at bringing the ball out, so composed.
Terry 7 - Handled Bellamy and Kuyt well.
A Cole 6 - Bit suspect with his man-marking, and didn't offer much going forward, but still a satisfactory performance.
    Makelele 6 - So composed.
Mikel 7 - See Maka, but also brought the ball forward.
Lampard 7 - Not for his attacking play, but his defensive work tonight was unbelievable. Ran his bollocks off helping the defence out, made a couple of vital interceptions and actually ran with the ball. Should have scored though.
Joe Cole 7 - Helped Ash defensively and was very good in the first half. Tired 2nd half performance though.
Sheva 6 - Some nice play, but largely ineffective.
Drogba 9 - Agger must've been wetting the bed last night at the thought of trying to mark Didier. Was an absolute nuisance for 'Pool tonight, just hope he doesn't get booked at Anfield. ok Should've scored though.

    Subs:

Kalou 6 - Should've gone for goal instead of trying to set up Frank.
    SWP - N/A

Anyway, we'll have Essien and Ballack back for next week, so we'll be 3x better in the midfield (although I'd like to see JM playing Essien at RB for the 2nd leg!)

Cristiano Ronaldo said Carvalho is the best player this season for Chelsea .. no bias.

And he could be right, up with Vidic he has been one of the flawless Defenders this season.

Luis the indoor season here is six a side 25 minutes each half and go out in max 2 minute shifts really fast and fit game. The outside season 11 a side starts in three weeks. All young leagues are set up like this right through to adult.

House Divisions ....People that just like to kick a ball around.

Competitive C......Same as above but some coaching

Competitve B..... Has a few divisions and is somewhat serious.

Competitive A..... Better players but dont want to go for it.

Premier 3..... Serious players and Parents willing to travel at least 4 to 6 tournaments a year all over the country and world.

Premier 2..... Same just a higher league players.

Premier 1...... Best of the bunch....

After this they go to college football in the states or if lucky enough off to europe.

All this is paid football by the Parents with technical coaching and training for all Premier players.

What is the structure like in the UK now. When I grew up there if you did not make the school team you were out of luck as there was nothing else until you were older......

Is it Mourinho's fault that the papers publish every little thing he says? No.

I'm surprised he hasn't moaned about Alonso's "tackling" tonight though.

Don't say them then, he can control himself surely for fucks sake, he sounds like a 5 year old

And I hope someone breaks Alonso's leg, but we can't all have what we want.

Besides, Jose can say what he likes. It's up to the press to publish it. At least he gives credit to other teams when they beat us/get a draw, unlike Rafa, who seems to think his side are the better team in every single game.

it was a 50/50 challenge that the ref read perfectly because he was standing beside it. these things happen in football. both there feet collided first and then alonso went into the calf. there was no malice and the ref got it spot on.

drogba and joe cole's diving on the other hand Wink

and what on earth was moan terry moaning about throughout the game?
