Van Bommel is such a tool. Not only a dirty c**t (read above), I wonder where he gets that arrogance from ("Fiat Punto Clio Cup" -> his comment on the UEFA Cup prior to the match, in comparison to the CL which is supposed to be the F1)? If you show that kind of arrogance prior to the match, and get slaughtered like that afterwards (Stuttgart should have scored more goals, the result doesn't do the match justice), you make yourself a laughing stock. He must have learned that from Hoeness, Rummenigge and Hitzfeld I guess (a few gems: "Wir werder besser spielen ohne Michael Ballack" - Rummenigge, "Der Weihnachtsmann ist nicht der Osterhase" - Hoeness (comment on the first half of the season, when Bayern where in the exactly same position they are now), and last but not least, "Stuttgart holen wir definitiv ein, die werden noch einbrechen" - Hitzfeld).

This arrogance is what makes most neutral fans dislike Bayern, and not jealousy because they are the most successful team, as Bayern fans believe. And what's even worse, with comments like that from Van Bommel, it's very likely that Bayern won't take the UEFA Cup seriously next season, should they qualify for it, and really hurt the Bundesliga by going out early.

Congrats on the win again Wiebke, brilliant match by Stuttgart. ok

Zidan is class, and not terrible. I'm still sad that it didn't work out for him in Bremen, such a talent.

Just watched the Zidan goal again, what a brilliant goal! He made Mathijsen look like a pub footballer.

Zidan is definitely one of the technically best players in the league.

Seems like it's bye-bye to Gladbach then unless they perform a miracle. At the moment it would be 8 points to 15th place.

I was bye bye to Gladbach weeks ago already I'm afraid. The match against HSV, which they lost in the last second (doesn't get more unlucky than that) was the final nail on the coffin.

Well, it certainly looked like tis for ages, but 5 points in 4 games would at least give them a slim chance.
I just remembered when Freiburg had to win their 4 last games and Nürnberg had to lose all their games. So it is possible after all.

All Guerrero needs is a little service. He does the rest, puts it in the back of the net. He's the best Peruvian goalscorer, in the box he's deadlier than Farfán and Pizarro combined. He's got that sense of where to be to get a clean shot on goal, and it seems he knows where the rebounds are gonna end up. Guerrero just kills in the box, that's why for Perú he plays up front getting servive from Pizarro and Farfán. <Ale>

Must beat Hannover and Monchengladbach at home, AND steal at least one point from either Stuttgart or Bayern on the road. That should keep Mainz in 1.Bundesliga. <Ale>

The most obvious result of this matchday at the top is that we now have a three horse race for the title in the remaining 4 matches, and not a four horse race anymore now that Bayern lost against their direct competitor Stuttgart, and have fallen behind. 9 points behind Schalke is too much for the remaning 4 matches.

At the bottom of the table, nothing has really changed. 2/3 of the league still in the relegation struggle, and only a five point difference between 7th and 16th (->relegation) spot.

Will be one hell of a finish this season...

It really hurts more and more to see Schalke still topping the table, especially when I think of the points we have lost against Cottbus and Gladbach. Rolling Eyes

The third place team goes to CL qualifying stage. Fourth and fifth place teams go to UEFA Cup I think.

Schalke really don't look like choking this year. To be fair, if they keep winning like they did in the last few weeks, they deserve to win the title, as much as it hurts me to say it. However, my only hope left are Nürnberg and Dortmund. I can see Schalke losing points against them, but that will only help us if we win all of our remaining matches. Easier said than done.

If you look at the remaining fixtures, Stuttgart have the easiest task on paper. Who knows, maybe they nick the title at the end.

For Werder, there is only one goal: Win all of the remaining matches and hope for Schalke to choke (and keep Stuttgart in check). The other two teams have the advantage that they don't play in Europe, unlike Werder. This means that our team is more exhausted, and has to play the remaining matches after them. This increases the pressure on us.

A huge task, I hope we are up to it.
