Re: Darren Bent
looking at their squad, i can't see many players that premier teams will go for.
bent could go to anyone really. i wouldn't be surprised if one of the top 4 went in for him. will cost £10m+
luke young will probably move.
other than that, i'm not sure. carson will go back to pool, or another prem club, i'd guess.

Re: Darren Bent
I think Bent will end up at either Liverpool, Tottenham, Newcastle or West Ham, its going ot be a massive bidding war and i bet he goes for silly money. In my eyes he is worth about £10m but he will go for more.
Its going to be worrying time for Charlton fans, i remember hearing earlier in the season that Dowie had actually over spent and had gone into next seasons budget. It seems crazy that he spent £12m or so on them and now they are relegated, it goes to show that spending money doesnt always bring success and that it has to be spent well.
I also think the likes of Young and Thomas will be in demand whilst i cant see Hreidarsson, Hasselbaink, Diawara and Ambrose wanting to step down to the Championship. There are sure to be lots of comings and goings but Pardew knows what to expect from the league and if he can keep hold of Marcus Bent, Hughes, Thatcher, Fortune, Walton and a few others he should be able to create a decent team to challenge for promotion.

Re: Darren Bent
yeah i guess a promoted team/someone like fulham could go for experienced players like hreidarsson or that bastard hughes.
can't see anyone in the prem going for haaselbaink after this season, where he's been pretty poor. not sure he can cut it any more..

YEah its a shame JFH has been a bit $h!t this season as he is a Prem legend. Im sure he wouldnt want to but im sure he would bang in the goes in the Championship with his power, strength and clinical finishing. I wouldnt be suprised to see someone like Brum take a chance on him though, if not then he might retire or move back to Holland to play for a year or two.

Re: Darren Bent
aye. i like jfh, would be good if he could get back some form. as you say, he could be great in the championship.
interestingly, hreidesson has been relegated from the prem 4 times now, equalling quashie

Apart from Young, Bent and Carson (going back to Liverpool anyway) not any of there players are too good for the Championship.

Re: Darren Bent
Bent won't go to Liverpool - they're after a world class striker I think.
I'd like Bent to join one of Man City or Aston Villa - he'd make the first team of both and they both will be ambitious next season with their new found investment.
Other decentish players at Charlton: Diawara and Thomas.
Diawara only signed for them in the summer but he comes highly respected from France.
Thomas is IMO a player with a lot of potential, the only problem is that he's very injury prone

Re: Darren Bent
Diawara has improved alot the second half of the season, even Chairman was having digs earlier in the season.
Thomas may have potential but he's very ineffective at times. I can't see many clubs coming in for him to be honest.

He's been $h!t this season Tweeds. He had a really good first season but been poor ever since.
Charlton may as well keep him, they won't get much for him.

Its olny because he's been battling with injuries though. If he'd had a clear period he would have got 100% fit and shown his stuff. It ain't easy to play to your best when your constantly fighting for fitness and getting injured

This just shows what a great job Curbishley has been doing over the years...
Makes you wonder what will happen to Bolton : they too have been pushing above their weight with Big Sam in charge.
Bolton to go down next season ?

bolton have got a much better team/squad than charlton. i could see them being more mid-table but unless they lose a bunch of their key players, they should be fine

An overrated and overpriced English striker available - I can't believe we're having a debate. He'll go to Newcastle of course.

Re: Darren Bent
100% No.
Pardew has already come out and said that he will have to sell and release lots of high earners from their contracts this Summer. Players like Bent, Young, Ambrose etc will make their way back to the Premiership this Summer. Hasselbaink and a few other of the bigger names will leave too, mainly on free transfers. I think Matt Holland will stay though.
As for Bent, I think Villa would be a good option for him.

The thing is though that Bolton have had a terrible year so far. Since January they have won only 4 of their 16 games and conceeded a shed load of goals losing 3-0 at Liverpool, 4-1 U*d, 5-1 Boro, 3-1 West Ham, 3-1 Reading and 4-1 Tottenham.
They will also lose ben haim in the summer and maybe Anelka, Stelios and Campo. Whilst next season they will be without Faye, Meite and Diouf for the African Nations Cup.
With Big Sam leaving its going to be a massive job for Sammy Lee and i think unless they can keep their squad together and add a couple more decent players i think they will struggle next season.

Re: Darren Bent
Curbs has been tracking him ever since we bid for him in Jan. If we can stay up, apparently we could get him for as little as £8m. £10m less than what they rejected from us in January

Re: Darren Bent
would be a good move for Bent to go to West Ham
But would you not have to offload a few strikers first
Harewood, Zamora, Ashton, Sheringham (leaving) Tevez (leaving)
Cole

Re: Darren Bent
Why is Tevez leaving? That's an unsure to be honest, and the way he's talking himself it'll be likely he stays.
Carlton Cole, Teddy Sheringham, Kepa Blanco will all be gone. Possibly Harewood...
Tevez,Ashton,Bent,Zamora,Harewood would suit me nicely

Re: Darren Bent
Five strikers still looks to heavy for me. If Bent is to arrive.
Tevez is an obvious cert as well as Ashton who is still very young and influentual as a player.
Zamora has been great over the past few months and for me deserves to be at West Ham next season.
Harewood is the odd one out.

your right
but for Berbatov he will be spending his prime years at a club that are unlikely to break into the top 4
no offence to Tottenham
