He thought that we would get the silverware straight away and that teh young players would step up, he didn't expect it to be another transistional season. He is fed up of this and like Vieira at 29 wants a new challenge. I am resigned to him going.blutgraetsche wrote:Well, why did he extend his contract just last year then, talking about Arsenal being 'his' club and what not?
Sometimes I wonder why contracts actually exist in this business at all. Nobody cares about them anyway.

Re: Top European Clubs - Transfer Tracker!
Still doesn't explain why he extended his contract for another four years, which under normal circumstances means a long term commitment to the club, especially if you consider his age. You can't tell me that he was not aware of that.
Again, contracts are worth nothing these days. Players know this, that's why they "change their mind" so often. Something has to be done about this, it's getting ridiculous.

Re: Top European Clubs - Transfer Tracker!
That would have been something that the club insisted on. I'm sure we knew that there would be a slight possibilty of him moving on, even if he did make those promises.
He still has three years left so we can get a good fee for him, its better than one year for instance where we will get a reduced price for him.
I do agree that contracts are rarely honoured in the game anymore.

Ok guys, for what is worth Gazetta mentions that on June 18 we will table an offer of 40 million for Eto'o and that Ancelotti has asked for a strong midfielder and the best striker (who he considers to be Eto'o).
Not saying that it will happen, just what i've read

Re: Top European Clubs - Transfer Tracker!
Yeah I read the same thing (probably just Spanish papers quoting Italian ones). Galliani will get in touch right after the league ends with Milan's bid of 40 million.
Frankly, I find this a bit silly. Not the fact that Milan are making a bid or the amount of it, but the fact that they are announcing the exact details of the bid they will make, and when...what's the point? Just make the bid now, or don't bother announcing it
The strong midfielder will 90% be Emerson. If not, Edmilson.

Re: Top European Clubs - Transfer Tracker!
It looks like Henry will leave. Henry's recent comments were about the loss of D.Dein, that he was clearly not happy that and so forth. I think it's just manipulation to prepare his next transfer. Arsenal have not showed anything yet in the transfer market and maybe that's bothering him. I could think Trezeguet would be a decent replacement.

40m euros or pounds?
40m euros seems a bit cheap - Man Utd had a bid of about 38m euros rejected

Yeah, thats also mentioned above in the red....
Its not confirmed whether that is a sale or a loan, so this is provisional.
Personally, I think Juve will be a bit silly to let one of their most talented kids to go...

Re: Top European Clubs - Transfer Tracker!
Yeah, even I am surprised... if they lose Treze and Camoranesi, no matter whom they buy, Juve will start in a rebuild mode.... it will take time for the team to gel.
If I were Juve, I would first ensure the skeleton remains (Buffon, DP, Treze, Nedved, Camoranesi, Chiellini, Zanetti, Giannichedda) and then build around this. Coz if they start too slow, and cannot qualify for teh CL, then a lot of other champions will leave....
I am also surprised that Juve are not being linked with some of the top names who were/are available for transfer.... Tevez, Eto'o, Klose, Ribery, Toni, Crespo, etc...
maybe we will get Buffon real cheap next summer

Juve would never sell to Inter. If anything Buffon would come to Milan. However, I think he will stay at Juve.

But I am sure they will try to convince Camo & Trez (forget the gesture he made ) & probably even concede to their wage demands. It will still be cheaper than buying some world class players

If Laporta and co accept €40 mill I will shoot them myself.. What the f@ck are we supposed to use that kind of money for if we have to replace a top 3 striker!!!
Drogba - Chelsea won't sell..
Who else??
Henry---don't make me laugh.. he will be injured all the time and has an ego the size of Camp Nou.
Adriano... a dud.. so much promise yet so few results.
Villa...Valencia won't sell.
Gilardino-- Milan can ge f@ck themselves.. hype in the truest sense of the word.
Klose--- Bayern bound
RVP--- Arsenal won't sell
Forlán--- not even in the same league
Ibra---not way... don't want him
Torres---Atletico would live that but it would be a disaster
Only Drogba or Villa would be worthy replacements and they aren't available for anything close to €40mill..

what rubbish he was barely injured for about 5 seasons then fatigue caught up with him this season.

How many months did he miss this season and the last? I fear that he hasn't been given the time to recuperate from injuries in previous seasons. A bit like what will probably happen to Ronaldinho and Messi if we don't sign somebody who can rotate with them.

I just don't see that happening. I can't see him accepting a role where he wouldn't be natural first choice.
If he would be willing to accept it then I am all for it. But I don't want a civil war going on the dressing room.

Henry until this season, never used to get injured and played nearly all the games.
But you're right, their arent any decent strikers around.
Ps if you can mention the god awful Gilardino, you should have at least mentioned Berbatov.

I think if he signs he will know that is the reality. Probably a reason he rejected us last year, and may be the same reason if the move doesn't happen this year again, because at Arsenal he is the first name on the team sheet.

Re: Top European Clubs - Transfer Tracker!
I probably was one of the first to call Gila over rated two years ago, but now I think most people are coming down too hard on him... while I never thought he was the "next Sheva" like some made him out to be, he is certainly a top striker... If he becomes Milan's 3rd choice striker this season, he more than deserves it... he just wasn't ready to be Milan's first choice striker, that was wishful thinking by Galliani...it was pretty clear to most people, Milan should have bought a like-to-like replacement for Sheva and not promote Gila to sheva's role and replace him with Oli.
Infact, I think Gila is ready to play as Milan's second choice striker behind Ronaldo, like he has shown in the second half of the season.
Very much like Adriano and Martins were not ready to be Inter's first and second choice strikers last season.

That is spot on mate. Of course i can understand such comments coming from international fans that don't really follow the Serie A, but nowadays even some of our own retarded fans come up with Cr@p like that.
31 Serie A goals in 2 seasons with Milan and he is 24 years old. 47 Serie A goals in his previous two seasons with Parma. Yeah sure, he must be the crappiest striker in the world.
