*not saying Newcastle are in danger of being relegated. Like any other PL club its worth any paying these wages as long as they stay in this overpriced league. Hence why the league is more defensive, all (non- top 4) clubs just want to stay in the league and not necessarily do well/entertain. Even Top 4 clubs just want to be in the top 4 just to re-enter the CL (except players and managers want to win trophy's so that gives a bit more incentive to compete).

I am shocked at how much these players as getting per week.

Parker and Barton are getting paid more per week than players like Gilberto Silva, Paul Scholes and Michael Carrick. Parker and Bartons wages are probably on comparison to someone like Michael Essien who is World Class. Madness! In terms of quality they are not comparable.

This will no doubt cause a domino effect for years to come if it carries on at this rate. Give it a few years and we won't even batter an eyelid when we see a player pick up £10 million per season.

How do we know this?

Short negotiation periods one of the major contributions to this. Unreasonable demands cannot be acquired when renegotiating so wages have been kept too calm for a while.

How do we know this?

Scholes is on about 80 - 90k
Carrick is on about 50-60k

I think Hargreaves was only on about 50-60k as well.

Just to Let you all know - Dimitar Berbatov is currently on just £22k p/w

Ben Haim rumoured to be signing when his Bolton deal runs out, rumours are gathering about Rozehnal aswell. It's the start of June ffs and Sam hasn't even been given his budget yet.

The order of transfers doesn't matter, just that they are made. Liverpool signed Lucas already, can I now make fun of you and Benitez for not signing a striker first? It's all about having the opportunity to sign someone, and getting it done with.

Ben Haim sounds like proven Premiership quality to me...as does Campbell, who is the other person being rumoured (though unlikely).
