Barton signs for Newcastle !

So what your saying is, Newcastle are spending all their time on strikers and midfielders, as opposed to defenders, opportunity cost?

hmm im certain you don't know what that means, otherwise you'd be pretty angry.

You cannot have it all, whether it be money and or time.

And Newcastle are spending their money and time, on attacking players....... again.

I don't care much for speculation, so what the Mirrors says doesn't mean f@ck all to me, when you've actually signed a defender then come back to me...

Neither of them have a lot to prove IMO...just both needed new starts which they are getting

Fact is, both West Ham and Newcastle are an utter disgrace for offering players the wages they are. I don't think there's a single player in Spain bar Raul or Ronaldinho who get 100,000 euros a week (which is about 70,000 pounds).

It's true...but both of us want to build, if you want decent players here yu have to pay high wages because money talks...simple.

Newcastle wanted to get Barton ahead of us...so they offer high wages.
We wanted to get Parker...so we offer high wages.

Without offering high wages you'll fall behind the other teams and lose out on better players/. Sad but it's the way things are at the moment...

I understand perfectly what opportunity cost means, and as I said, it's only with subsequent explanations that your original point actually becomes clear.


What I'm also trying to say that it's not as if Allardyce is ignoring defenders like past managers have done...there is obviously work going on behind the scenes on that (he was at the Wales-Czech Republic game, and Ben Haim's contract is still not over), but Viduka and Barton had to get done now else other clubs would have signed them.

Yes they do, they both have names that they haven't lived up to yet. And they have to prove that they aren't actually as $h!t as they have been this season.

Also, Newcastle are not spending all their money on attacking players. So far Allardyce has a profit of 2.5 million, and as we've all seen with Newcastle, money has never been an issue, esp. when defenders are likely to be cheaper.

Money soon becomes an object when you're in debt, and are intent on enlarging the stadium, 'scratches head' presumably you have lots of money to pay for the expansion? New owner comes in spends half his fortune on the club, he didn't become a business man investing in debt....

I actually think Barton has decent technique. You don't score as many good goals as he has if you don't have a reasonably good level of skill.

He's just not got the best (football) brain.

The expansion would be funded by a project independant from the club = i can't really be arsed to explain though as i've been over it a million times. And i doubt Ashley will invest £1b into the club.

Like Riise, Djibril Cissé, Hitzelsperger etc. I'd never call those players technically accomplished... they just strike a ball well. Isn't that the whole argument about Lampard?

He does look more overweight rathere than built. Hope he looses the weight because he physical attributes coupled with his passing can be a real asset to England in the future.
