    Capacity away ends in Holland

    This is what the Dutch FA has as standards:

    Total capacity until 5.000 -> 400 away fans
    Total capacity 5.001 until 7.500 -> 500 away fans
    Total capacity 7.501 until 12.500 -> 600 away fans
    Total capacity 12.501 until 15.000 -> 800 away fans
    Total capacity 15.001 until 20.000 -> 1.000 away fans
    Total capacity 20.001 until 30.000 -> 1.200 away fans
    Total capacity 30.001+ -> 1.600 away fans

    Feyenoord, Ajax & PSV have room for 1,600 away fans; most other clubs between 1,200 -800, but Excelsior only have 400.

    Yeah in England its a bit different cos a fair few teams have grounds they cant fill like Bolton, Blackburn, Boro and Wigan so that means they can hand out a decent amount of away tickets. Also the minimum capacity stadium in the EPL is Portsmouth's 21,000 so it means the minimum allocation for a club's away support is 3,000. The best is Blackburn who will offer up to 7,000 if you can fill it, whilst Wigan offer around 5,000. Its always great going away from home taking so many fans, you feel like your invading their backyard.

    How well do fans travel in Holland, do many fans like to go to away games or is it just those of the big clubs ?

    Not just those of the big clubs, guess the short distances make it a bit easier than in the UK.

    By the way if Feyenoord or Ajax play away, you quite often see some supporters (who couldn't get tickets) in home fan sections (either using fake IDs or buying the ticket of a home fan). Used to do it too, if I couldn't get a ticket for an important away match. Is more difficult nowadays, because all stadiums are nearly sold out & checks are more secure.

    Yeah that happens in England as well when fans cant get tickets. Ive done it a few times in the past. There is normally trouble though when the away team scores and a few fans jump up to celebrate.

    I remember when we were in the Division 3 about 8 years ago cos we had to play at grounds like Macclesfield, Lincoln, Wycombe, Grimsby etc and they only had small away ends and cos of our huge demands for tickets (we still averaged 30,000 for home games) lots of our fans went in the home end. So to try and prevent this clubs started setting quiz's on the home side for the home fans (thinking we wouldnt know much about Grimsby etc ) and if they didnt get over a certain score then they didnt get tickets. So lots of our fans started researching the opposition in a bid to pass the tests, i only ever did a couple but luckily passed them. Very Happy

    Was once refused entree to the Ajax stadium, because of my Rotterdam accent & experienced a few 'near-accidents' when I cheered for a Feyenoord goal in an Ajax section.

    Feyenoord kampioen van de voorbereiding

    15/8/2007

    Veel wedstrijden tegen amateurs om lekker in vorm te komen of juist zware tegenstanders om de selectie direct op de proef te stellen? Trainers kiezen hun eigen ideale pad op weg naar het nieuwe seizoen. VI.nl vergelijkt.
    Ook deze zomer was de voorbereiding voor iedere Eredivisieclub weer anders. Heracles Almelo kwam slechts zes keer in actie. De Graafschap en FC Groningen daarentegen speelden ieder dertien oefenduels.
    Niet tot blijdschap van iedereen. 'We hebben ik-weet-niet-hoeveel oefenwedstrijden gespeeld, maar daarin staat niks op het spel', moppert De Graafschap-verdediger Joost Volmer een beetje. 'De echte drive ontbreekt dan bij mij.'
    Ook de kracht van de tegenstander verschilde nogal, hetgeen een goede vergelijking lastig maakt. Of het nu Arsenal, Hartlepool United, Veelerveen of Hollandia Tuitjenhorn is, cijfers bieden wel aanknopingspunten.

    Zo leverde FC Groningen de topscorer van de voorbereiding. Serdar Öztürk (foto) kwam in zijn eentje tot een totaal van negentien treffers, meer dan de productie van Heracles Almelo in de hele voorbereiding. Maar het leverde de aanvaller geen plaats op in de A-selectie. Öztürk speelt komend seizoen zijn wedstrijden bij de beloftes van FC Groningen.
    Vijf wedstrijden tegen amateurploegen maakten de ploeg van trainer Ron Jans de productiefste Eredivisieclub in de voorbereiding, met een gemiddelde van meer dan zeven doelpunten per duel.
    Maar de titel Kampioen van de Voorbereiding is niet weggelegd voor FC Groningen. Die prijs valt te beurt aan Feyenoord, dat de beste resultaten boekte. Gemiddeld leverde een oefenduel de Rotterdammers het fictieve aantal van 2,33 punten op.
    Niet geheel verrassend is NEC op zoek naar versterkingen. De formatie van Mario Been scoorde op beide onderdelen het slechtst. De Nijmeegse formatie maakte gemiddeld minder dan twee doelpunten (1,92), terwijl ook de resultaten niet om over naar huis te schrijven waren. Onder meer een nederlaag tegen FC Dordrecht en een remise tegen FC Omniworld brachten de score op 1,33 punten per oefenduel.
    Of de voorbereiding een opmaat was voor het verloop van het nieuwe seizoen moet blijken. 'Vorig jaar waren we kampioen van de oefenperiode, maar eindigden we als twaalfde', kijkt Vitesse-trainer Aad de Mos terug. 'Misschien worden we na deze slechte voorbereiding de sensatie van de Eredivisie.'

    cheers

    We will win the league...

    El Hamdoui is a great player...but then again LOTS of Morrocans are. Most of them lack that Kampfen und Siegen Mentality!!

    Weird he never played a game for Spurs though..

    Koller would be nice if we still lived in 1998. Like our team is not old enough. And Koevermans....I dont know...very average player!! I wished we signed Samaras and Pranjic Rolling Eyes

    Hamdaoui's mentality is pretty good. Think it has only improved, because of all the injury revalidation he had to do. Expect him to be a success at Feyenoord. His skill level is similar to his cage footy mate Van Persie.

    On Koller, he only has a 1 year deal left, so he would only costs a few M. He's not as good as he used to be, but definately a better supersub than that Mols c**t.

    Woudln't mind Samaras or Pranjic either.

    After Ajax' performance last night AZ most fancy their chances of winning the league even more. Don't think they'll allow us to strengthen.

    For me it's between AZ and PSV for the title.

    I don't want to jinx AZ, so I'll go with PSV Smile

    I thought Ajax would finish third, but I'm now going with Feyenoord third and Ajax fourth (and prolly Roda fifth).

    AZ has the better squad then us..but they just seem to lack that final step. They rarely win against the big teams.

    PSV has a decent squad..but will be lesser then last year, with Lazo and Perez they also have a big c**t factor. Add Koeman to this, and you have a team in troubles.

    Ajax needs improvements fast.

    My money is on AZ & Feyenoord (because of the odds), but

    AZ and PSV look to be the most realistic candidates.

    Ajax and Feyenoord could surprise especially if PSV and/or AZ have a good European season.

    Very difficult to judge how good Feyenoord is at the moment. The atmoshpere in the group has improved dramtically. Visited 2 training sessions this season & saw De Guzman smile more than the entire last season. Only saw hightlights of our matches v amateurs and visited our 3 big friendlies.

    Key will be how well Makaay gels in. He lacked supply those matches, but maybe it's easier v lesser teams. Furthermore I rate Makaay mainly as counterattacking striker, hope he proves me wrong & shows he can deliver agianst parked busses.

    My money (if i was a gambling man) would be on Feyenoord , to me its the safe bet as they will have limited distraction and have a good team assembled , AZ would be second IMO , PSV will push them .. any one of these three teams could end up as Champions. As for Ajax wont even finish in the top 5.

    AZ is too young, they will even do worse then last year. Last year was a change that will never happen again for them!

    Ajax was the big favo, not anymore obviously. Huntelaar looks pissed as well.

    I think and hope that it will be a great Eredivisie season :

    PSV

    Lost some great and experienced players....but that makes room for the jonkies to step up.

    Afellay, Aissati & Bakal ok

    I expect PSV to switch to 4-5-1 a couple of times this season because of all the midfield quality they've got.

    Perez and Lazovic will wreak havoc in the CL : perfect counterstrike combination.

    Still a deadly and experienced team.

    AZ

    Even younger and even more talented than last year.

    Is there no end to the amount of young talents coming to AZ ?

    It's a mouthwatering selection they have and I have to admit : I expect great things from them.

    Even their bench is oozing class and talent !

    Especially if the Argentinian goalie "fulfills the promise he's showing" and takes over from Waterman AZ could be an unstoppable force.

    Guaranteed ENTERTAINMENT KINGS of EUROPE for another year Ale

    Feyenoord

    Have strengthened in all departments, but are still looking very vulnerable to me :

    * no buildup from defense
    * just two strikers, one of which the midfield does not know how to feed
    * no real quality on the bench for both strikers and defense, injuries will wreak havoc on this team
    * too high expectations will work against you

    or more direct : if Slory is injured, you're completely fucked...

    (Castelen staying would have been a *huge* difference...)

    Ajax

    * worst manager in the history of the club
    * current team has a terrible disciplinary state
    * completely dependent on individual actions of Suarez and Bakircioglu
    * severly weakened by players leaving and Ten Cate seems reluctant to give the good young talents that are available a real chance
    * did I mention : worst manager in the history of the club

    @ Axe

    severly weakened by players leaving (and the board not signing decent replacements and lack ambition which is killing the club) and Ten Cate seems reluctant to give the good young talents that are available a real chance
    ok ok

    Feyenoord wins against Utrecht! They are shite! But Fey is right, Utrecht away is almost as difficult as Den Haag away for the kakkerlakken...! Wink

    Really looking forward to it, but not confident yet. Don't want to predict anything.

    Our teamplay still needs to improve.

    Like Fey says, Utreg are 1 of our bogey opponents. Furthermore they have an ex-Feyenoord player, Robin Nelisse, who never scores bar against us. If he scores again, I'm gonna kill that bastard Wink

    The ref doesn't like us either.

    & last but not least we're Feyenoord, we're damn good at fucking things up
