Feyenoord-coach Van Marwijk ‘heel erg verbaasd’ over Oranje-selectie

Bert van Marwijk is er de man niet naar collega’s aan te vallen. Daarom hield hij het er vrijdagmiddag tijdens het perspraatje voor het duel met Roda JC op ‘heel erg verbaasd’ te zijn over de recente Oranje-selectie voor de duels met Bulgarije en Albanië. Bondscoach Marco van Basten selecteerde slechts één Feyenoorder, Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

Feyenoord heeft dit seizoen een vernederlandsing ondergaan; liefst negen basisspelers hebben de Nederlandse nationaliteit. Met name de absentie van linksback Tim de Cler roept her en der vraagtekens op, terwijl ook Kevin Hofland binnen Feyenoord wordt getipt voor een rentree. “We hebben meerdere Nederlandse jongens die volgens mij goed bezig zijn. De bondscoach zal er zijn redenen voor hebben,” wilde Van Marwijk slechts kwijt.

Makaay evenaart record Kluivert

Roy Makaay scoorde net als in de eerste drie competitieduels van Feyenoord ook in de vierde competitieronde. Hij benutte een penalty. Hij evenaarde samen met Donny de Groot van De Graafschap, die ook in de eerste vier wedstrijden doel trof, het record van Patrick Kluivert die de laatste was die in de eerste vier duels op rij wist te scoren. Dat was in seizoen 1994/1995

Keuze De Guzman tussen Canada en Nederland weer onderwerp van gesprek.

Na de prachtige goals van De Guzman tegen Roda JC laaide de discussie of de Canadees zal kiezen voor het Canadese nationale elftal of het Nederlandse elftal weer op. Daarmee geconfronteerd liet Van Marwijk weten dat hij De Guzman een verrijking vindt voor het Nederlandse voetbal. „Maar hij heeft aan mij nog geen advies gevraagd. Hij liet zien wat hij werkelijk kan. Jonathan is in tegenstelling tot veel van zijn leeftijdsgenoten nog iets te bescheiden. Hij weet niet hoe goed hij is.”

De Guzman: „Maar wat ik ook besluit, hij zal altijd achter me blijven staan. Ik kan en wil er nu gewoon nog niets over zeggen. Ik wacht af. Waarop ik wacht? Vooral op mezelf. Natuurlijk is het niveau van Oranje veel hoger, maar spelen met mijn broer voor Canada is ook aantrekkelijk. De voor- en nadelen van mijn keuze moet ik nog tegen elkaar afwegen.”

Holland or Canada!! Where should he play for?

I would love to see him for Holland....but then again, I dont want to see him in this Oranje team. That will only be bad for his career. Besides with van Bastard still in charge...there are 5 players infront of him.

Even without MVB in charge , you reckon he get a starting place or a back up.

... Sneijder will hardly start when VDV is fully fit , then again MVB would find a way.

Bruins should be in Oranje as well!!! The Feyenoord academy produced so many talents over the years its insane!!!

How many caps has Bruins wont at U21 level ? please he may have talent , but we must take our time. De Cler is one Feyenoord player that should no doubt be in the side.

Dunno, 10+ I think. His playstyle looks so much like that of Riquelme its insane!!

Infact the ENTIRE Feyenoord backline should be the Oranje defense!!

Kromkamp over Greene and Melchiot. Boulahrouz in front of Vlaar atm (maybe Donk ..) yes De Cler should be no1 LB. Not sure about Hofland.

No way that Kromkamp is better then Greene!! Vlaar is out for a while but he is so much more talented then Boula...who can only kick. Vlaar is like Beckenbauer!!

Hofland is so much better then Mathijssen!! De Cler really is just the only LB we have so..

I was impressed with Vlaar at the Euro U21s this summer and his start to the season , lets hope his injury is not that serious. Vlaar is one for the future , will he get games now for Oranje I'm not sure , but all you can do is perform and let his football do the talking. Same can be said for Donk.

Donk is such an overrated player on here...

Well being tutored under van Gaal cant be bad for you .. Donk has the aspirations do be a good player , not yet international material.

AZ is just nothing more then a hype from journalists. They all love AZ cause supporting AZ is cool these days and accepted. Unlike Feyenoord or ajax

wasn't impressed with PSV today, think we'll win.

Me neither they look very poor at the back. Their midfield is so uncreative.
