Awesome news!! Hope we sign some new players as well, I prefer something exotics!!

Don't think they will risk Bruins against Sparta.

It's a very easy gameplan for Feyenoord, if Jaggy isn't fit exploit Polak who is $h!t defensivly. We have a pretty decent defensive midfield but vBueren is suspended. (That's why we defianatly wanted to play against NAC). Hope Kaita plays, he can nurture deGuzman. Freire certainly can't.

You shouldn't have to much problems with our strikers, although when Duplan is matchfit he could run circles around Lucius.

Don't think so either. Don't mind risk Hofs, but would save Bruins for our last match of 2007: away v Heerenveen.

Van Bueren being suspended is great news for us indeed.

All your players should be able to run rings around Lucius. Hope he has a fireworks accident.

Pity, we did not get Rukavina would have been a good signing in a position, in which we need strengthening.

Think it's positive we're looking to strengthen ourselves, so apprently we have some cash, hope we have a plan B for right fullback (Silva, De Roover or Zuiverloon would do imo).

Already been named the new Romario/Rooney, South African Kermit Erasmus has signed a pro-contract with Feyenoord. (he had already signed a precontract.) He will be able to play as off next season when he turns 18.

Can't wait to see him play.

    Township talent pitches in

Ahead of the 2010 World Cup, South Africa's football academies are turning their attention to the nation's up-and-coming players, says Andrew Meldrum

    Wednesday January 3, 2007
    Guardian Unlimited

Cape Town's World Cup stadium will overlook Table Mountain

Plucked by scouts from a dusty football pitch in a rough and tumble neighbourhood of South Africa's Port Elizabeth, 16-year-old Kermit Erasmus now attends the country's leading football academy.
Erasmus's dream is to blaze his way into the national team when South Africa hosts the World Cup in 2010. His hopes are not so far-fetched. In recent weeks he scored a hat-trick playing for the Under-17s side against Zimbabwe.

The goals are already the stuff of legend. Erasmus was on the bench for the first half but when sent on he quickly drove the ball into the net three times, giving the South African side a 5-2 win.

Stocky Erasmus is being compared to Wayne Rooney and Brazilian star Romario. "There's the same low centre of gravity, the same nuggety power and the same cold eye for a goal," says Luke Alfred, sports writer for South Africa's Sunday Times.
"I want to play in 2010 for South Africa, for sure," said Erasmus. "I know it will take hard work and discipline. Also I will pray a lot and focus on my goal. I know I can't do it by myself. I must work with my teammates, my coaches and my family. And that's what I'm going to do."

South Africa needs many more stories of raw, talented youths coming up from the townships and being trained to play against the world's best footballers in 2010.

The country is buckling down to develop both a stellar national team and the infrastructure needed to host the World Cup.

"Like a bolt from the blue, South Africa's 2010 World Cup tournament will surprise the world with its accomplishment," said President Thabo Mbeki last month when he met with Fifa officials, who endorsed the country's preparations as on track. Mbeki vowed the police force would be significantly boosted to tame the country's high rates of violent crime. The stadiums, hotels and transport routes will be strictly patrolled.

Having already successfully hosted the cricket and rugby world cups, South Africa is now concentrating on staging the world's greatest football tournament. Five new stadiums will be built in Cape Town, Nelspruit, Polokwane, Durban and Port Elizabeth. The Johannesburg stadium and four other stadiums will get major overhauls to bring them up to World Cup standards. The total cost is estimated at 15bn rand (about £1.2bn) but that figure is expected to spiral.

Critics say the funds would be better used to improve basic services to South Africa's poor black population. But World Cup supporters argue the money invested will reap enormous dividends for the country's burgeoning tourism industry. The Cape Town stadium is planned for a spectacular site in Green Point, overlooking the ocean with a backdrop of the famed Table Mountain.

But some local residents are not happy about an 80,000-seat stadium in their neighbourhood and threaten to hold up construction with court cases. There is no time for any delay and South Africa's World Cup organisers say they will take the stadium away from Cape Town if ground is not broken this month.

Another pressing challenge is to improve South Africa's relatively lacklustre national side, which has not qualified for recent World Cups. Former Brazil coach, Carlos Alberto Parreira, has been hired to build a team that can compete with the world's best. "We need to go into the townships and find the talent there. That should improve 100-fold because that is where our best resources are," said Ray Winfield, manager of the Super Sport Football Academy.

That's where centre forward Erasmus comes in. Having already piled up goals in the Under-17s, there is now talk of him playing for the Under-20s team.

If he can continue scoring among the bigger, more experienced players, then he may be well on his way to his dream: scoring for South Africa in the 2010 World Cup.

The new Romario and Rooney..in one!! Usually that are the players that don't make it! If people say it will be the new....they usually end up as failures.

I hope he can become the new Erasmus!! If he really becomes as good as they say, we should name a bridge after him!

    he's recovering from an injury.

We intend to loan him to some other club so he can get more playing time. Very talented goalie me thinks.

Apart from Kermit Erasmus, we also signed Philani Khwela from South African Supersport United (with whom we have some kind of cooperation deal).

Lee has been dropped from the South Korean team, which is good news we wouldn't want to miss our superstar

Lee! Lee! Lee! Lee! Lee! Lee! Lee! Lee! Lee! Lee! Lee! Lee!

De Cler & fer have the flu, hope they get well in time for the match v PSv, we can't miss De Cler for sure.

He definitely wants first team football, but I got the ipression he wants to stay withyou as well. How old is Henk Timmer? How long are their contracts?

Timmer is 36. he has a contract until the end of the season, Feyenoord will most likely extend it with 1 season.

Ekaramy is 24 and has a contract until the end of the 2010 season.

Pim Doesburg our goalie-trainer is a Spartan, was very good himself & good at training too & indeed makes the keepers worrk very hard.

Feyenoord have sold defender Karim Saidi to Sivasspor, the joint-leaders of Turkish League.

    Zware opgave Feyenoord

Maandag trainen we twee keer.”

You can say a lot about Feyenoord, but we are 1 of the few clubs that actually still has a soul. Even the hardcore Ajax fans wish their club was like ours when it comes to soul.

We are not arrogant bastards named after some Greek guy, who changed their club in a stockmarket listed company. Neither are we named part of a company Philips, who sold their soul by moving to Amsterdam. AZ completely sold their soul to loanshark Scheringa (DSB-stadium, etc...)... No one can buy/own Feyenoord.

yep saw that, but maybe Silva can 'enforce' a transfer

Good to see you're as much a bunch of c**ts as those from Amsterdam ok

I've always said there's no difference between those two clubs : soulless plastic mercenary trophy hunters the lot of you !

I'm back to cheering for PSV and AZ once more...

It was kind of a joke towards you...

We are a very honest club..unlike

I'm sorry, but when it comes to poaching our good players I don't have any sense of humor at all.....and I don't trust anyone either Wink

I still don't think it's funny Crying or Very sad

It's like the Suarez story all over again !

They come in with a ridiculously low bid, destroy the harmony, hope for a revolting player who they can then get on the cheap.

I'd say Silva is worth 5M in the current market....and I still think we shouldn't sell him for that amount.

Hope anyone who tries to steal Silva from us get relegated Ale

Axe, offering money for a player is what all clubs including Groningen do, there's nothing wrong with that. You also bought Silva & Suarez somewhere.

We offered you money for a player, you said no. We go home dissappointed. Nothing wrong with that.

Agree Silva is worth far more than 2M.
