That was based on the News of the World article from yesterday saying that we had been priced out of a permanent deal for Tevez and that they were after £28m.

Whether that is true or not remains to be seen, it is the NOTW afterall, hardly the most reputable paper around. Still, I would expect them to be after a figure around £25m.

Exactly, we were only use that figure as a suggestion, and most of us felt that we could sign Tevez for less than that. As far as I know, there has been no official statement or comment about how much they want for him.

tevez will deliver, and would be a great signing for us. but this is ALOT of money

tevez would be a stupid signing. he would be expensive and we already have second strikers even though im sure he could perform at a high level. i would prefer to give higuain a chance or baptista.

Something else to take into consideration is do we really wanna challenge Barca with having the worst looking freak in the world? They have Dinho who is impossible to challenge, but with Tevez that could all change. The guy really looks like Shrek

Does anyone know if Heinze & Tevez have an EU passport ? Cos we can only have 3 non EU players in the squad and we already have 4 players as it is (Robinho, Marcelo, Diarra & Baptista).

Heinze is of German descent, AFAIK he has a German citizenship also.

So that would be 5 players without a EU passport, looks like Marcelo & Baptista would have to leave then.

Marcelo looked good when he came on in the under 20`s world cup, we should keep him imo, unless he is loaned out to a team in primera that guarantees regular football.

I think Marcelo was going to be loaned out all along anyhow and Baptista wasn't in our plans either.

In other news, Marca claims Chivu is close to signing. Real Madrid are just trying to settle on the payment. 15m. euro but the operation could include Cassano, Cicinho, or Cannavaro.

Earlier Chivu's agent said: "Chivu se irá al equipo que le ponga un contrato más largo y más dinero sobre la mesa."

We shouldn't go over the top for Chivu seeing as he has 1 year left on his contract. But then again he`d be alot cheaper than Milito and he`s younger than Andrade.
He shouldn't take to long to adapt either, Madrid is packed full of Romanians !

It's clear he wants you or Inter because you two are willing to pay his wage demands of 4.5 million annual. We were only giving 3.5m. And of course our offer to Roma was 14m, whereas Inter had 14 + a player, and you are giving 15 or 16 straight up cash.

SOLDADO ESTÁ A PUNTO DE RENOVAR POR CINCO AÑOS

Hay acuerdo económico pero faltan flecos por cerrar

Roberto Soldado está más cerca de firmar su renovación con el conjunto blanco por cinco temporadas tras la reunión que tuvo lugar en la mañana de ayer entre su representante, Alberto Toldrá junior, y José Ángel Sánchez y Carlos Bucero en las oficinas del Santiago Bernabéu.

Sobre la mesa estaba solventar, en primer lugar, el escollo económico que existía entre ambas partes. El jugador pedía un millón de euros netos por temporada mientras que la oferta del club era un millón bruto, una diferencia que se solventó sin mayores problemas por el interés tanto del jugador como del club blanco en acercar posturas lo más posible.

Además, Toldrá acordó con Sánchez y Bucero una cláusula por la que el nueve recibirá también determinadas cantidades económicas en función de los objetivos cumplidos a lo largo de la temporada.

Una vez superado ese obstáculo, el acuerdo se podría considerar casi definitivo a falta de que el Madrid acepte la siguiente petición del futbolista: que se incluya una cláusula por la que Soldado no será cedido a otro equipo ni será pieza de cambio en un traspaso. Si la dirección deportiva da el visto bueno el jugador estampará su firma por cinco años más. Su actual contrato finaliza en junio de 2008 así que seguiría en la entidad hasta 2013. Continuar en el Madrid siempre ha estado en la mente de Soldado, que también tiene ofertas de Valencia, Mallorca y Villarreal.

Así las cosas, la próxima reunión entre Toldrá y el Real Madrid, prevista para dentro de las próximas 48 horas, debe ser la decisiva para sellar ese compromiso y que se llegue así a un acuerdo definitivo.

La permanencia de Soldado, que marcó la temporada pasada 11 goles en los 30 partidos de Liga que jugó durante su cesión en Osasuna, es uno de los objetivos de Mijatovic para la próxima temporada. El montenegrino ha sido el principal valedor del delantero valenciano, por encima de otras opciones como Saviola y Huntelaar. De esta forma, y si todo transcurre por los cauces normales, Soldado permanecerá en la casa blanca con la misión clara de ser el nueve suplente por detrás de Ruud van Nistelrooy.

FYI Royston Drenthe's agent & Feyenoord will be in talks at the end of this week.

Real (according to Royston his foreign dreamclub) have send a fax to Feyenoord and have phoned with the club. Chelsea is also among the interested clubs. Chelsea supposedly want to let him play (on loan) at Feyenoord for (at least) one more season.

Feyenoord TD Bosz: "we've opened up Royston's contract a while ago and extended his deal until 2011. He's developing well and there's no reason why we want him to go "

Drenthe's agent: "He has a contract with Feyenoord, the club he loves and the club, he wants to stay at for a while. We'll see after his holiday (if this has changed)"

Next week (Royston's return); Feyenoord, Royston & his agent will have talks.

The thing is, from what I've read, Drenthe is more of a winger than a left back. We should just play Torres, who is actually a defender, and worry about finding a right winger.

Real interested in Malouda ?

Real Madrid are competing with Chelsea for the signature of Florent Malouda as well as showing interest in Arjen Robben, it emerged today.

Real have made it clear they would only be interested in signing one of the wingers, with Malouda thought to be their first choice. Real president Ramon Calderon said today: "We like Robben and Malouda. But they play in the same position and we will only sign one of them."
