Doesn't really matter if there aren't many Zigic's, the problem is we don't have anyone in the back who is dominant in the air and Metzelder should resolve that easily.

What about the CL, supermadrid? Still, I can't believe that Zigic is the only player in the league who is strong in the air.

He can stay in Roma for all I care.
One thing's for sure - whichever team he picks, the rival fans have an instant insult ready

At least he was honest. You can be sure that the majority of the players think like him.

That might be true sheva, but only few players are that greedy and ungrateful that they want their current club, the club that actually gave them their status, not to see a penny for them so they can earn even more.

well like i said metzelders height will be a plus but it cant be his best quality or he wont do well. it seems he is a smart player so he should do well. i just dont want some akward type defender like alex. he will defo help in Cl so we can deal with the likes of pizzaro who gave us big problems.blutgraetsche wrote:What about the CL, supermadrid? Was a terrible penalty too. Half decent keeper would have saved it, and mark my words, if he takes one again at a crucial moment in the knockout stages he's bound to miss it when it matters most.

Sergio Ramos decent in the air and i'll be happy to see the back of or Helguara and R.Carlos, watch the goals we conciede and watch what Helguera and R.Carlos are doing, its comical at times, a lot of the times R. Carlos is not even in the picture

To put it bluntly: He is no donkey. Haven't you watched him play? He is no Beckenbauer either (who is?), but he is comfortable on the ball, and he is smart and fair. He rarely gets booked.
He will need time to adjust to the league, but with the right partner, I can see him do very well for you guys.

I think the difference with Chivu and most other players is that he doesn't even care about the challenge of a different league. Most players of his reputation/calibre would want to move to a top team in another top league (after finishing in Italy) and accept the same or equal pay. And what's worse is, his agent said "oh, if we don't get big bucks now, we'll just see out the contract, abuse the Bosman, and then try and force an even bigger sum in wages".

If you have the chance to move to Real Madrid (or Barcelona for that matter), earn a considerable sum of money, you wait a little longer until your contract expires, so you can earn even more (while your club gets nothing)?
Who says that Real, Barça or Inter will still be interested then, and who says that they will be willing to pay him that Ronaldinho like wage?

I can't blame him. Robinho has been by far the best player of the Copa. He would be playing even better if he had team mates like Diego, Anderson and Affonso instead of Baptista, Love and Elano.

Are you joking?
That one was even worse. At least last night he hit it kind of into the corner. That one barely squeezed past the keeper.

While it's true that most players are mercenaries to some extent, Chivu's case is just ridiculous. Players like Robinho and Samuel for example, turned down potentially higher contracts with Chelsea to play with us. Of course, they weren't getting paid peanuts in Madrid, but it does show some level of commitment. The same goes for Diarra, who basically told Lyon that he didn't want to hear any offers from the likes of AC Milan and ManU because he had his heart set on playing with us.
These are the type of players we should be going for. The ones who really want to play for Real Madrid. Chivu is basically a cheap dime whore who will go to whomever pays more (hey that rhymes ). So the hell with him. Let's move on.

Well, there's a 40% difference between the wages offered by Madrid and Inter. Roma didn't sign Chivu because they are nice, they wanted to make some profit. And they aren't exactly a poor club.
In 2002 Mancine scored 15 goals in 30 matches for my fav club and he left us to join Roma under the Pelé rule (Brazilian Bosman Rule). Roma didn't pay a penny. Ask Roma if they feel sorry for us...

they were exactly alike those penalties. he seems to be very bad at them. but like experts says if it goes in its a good PK. but yeah i wil be afraid when takes another.
robinho has done well in this cup but not as well as people seem to think. i mean he played better against mexico then against chile where he got a hatrick. like sheva said he would be able to perform much better with his partner diego.
blutgraetsche
i havent seen too much of metzelder since they never show dortmunds games. only you guys and the dane club(schalke).

But does that make it right? If anything, it makes him another c**t in the game.
AFAIK, Madrid offer him €5m a year (which is a lot of money for a defender already), but that does not seem to be enough, so he wants to wait until his contract expires so he can demand €7-8m. Problem is: Can't see anyone paying him that, not even Madrid.
