Luka Modric
According to some reports City are about to out bid Chelsea and U*d for the 22 year old Croatian midfielder. Ive heard he is supposed to be class but how much do other people know about him ? £20m is a lot to spend but i trust Sven.

Re: Luka Modric
I tell you this much. IF Modric were playing right now for Liverpool against Bolton, just like that, thrown into the Liverpool lineup, them Reds would've been winning 5-0 at halftime already with Modric picking up three assists.

Re: Luka Modric
Doesn’t Arsenal have first option on him? And as far as I know Manchester United have showed no interest in him. I’ve been speaking highly of this talented Croatian midfield maestro for 2 years now, wears the no14 for his nation (God wore 14 .. no not Titi) Bayern Munich has also showed interest in him, but it seems he wants to move to Engerland.

Re: Luka Modric
Very classy player from what I've seen of him. As Rai says it is rumoured that we have first option on him and I would love to see him at Arsenal, if we can fit him into the side. I think we will struggle to outbid some of the clubs interested in him if it comes to that. He is an excellent player though, and when he does leave Zagreb I hope he plays for a team that plays good football.

Not sure about the Arsenal first option ! Im hoping Corluka will help convince him that City it the club for him...he sounds awsome and would fit into our young team.

Re: Luka Modric
Wenger said 2 years ago that he would be interested in signing Modric but cost would be the problem. However now Arsenal does have the money but the question is does Arsenal need him (unless you want to replace Rosicky). Modric would IMO move to a team which could guarantee him Champions League football (so this would limit his options) Arsenal would be the favourites to sign him. Works well for both parties. Btw who wears no14 for Arsenal these days?

Re: Luka Modric
I don't think anyone has it at the moment. The rumour during the summer was that we tried to get both Modric and Eduardo, but Zagreb were unwilling to sell both and they were hoping Modric would be able to get them into the CL. Having failed to achieve that they would let him leave in January/the following summer and agreed to give Arsenal the first option on him. Having Eduardo could help our attempt to sign him, but I think signing him will require winning a bidding contest because there will be a number of top clubs interested in him.

@ Sheffield gunner
Modric wants to move to England his agent has reiterated this. But your right does Wenger want to sign him (in January) Chelsea seem to be interested Ten Cate I believe has told Grant about him but how much interest they have I do not know. Manchester City is moving in the right direction should get UEFA Cup football, but it then goes back to the player he may want Champions League football. I’m not sure about other European teams, but I read his agent has ruled out a move to Italy like I have said Bayern Munich have showed some interest.

Re: Luka Modric
Modric will be Eastern Europe's next big thing. Has looked a very classy player whenever I've seen him and he's still so young! With rosicky constantly injured and Inter expressing interest in him too, wouldn't be too shocked to see us making a bid for him in the near future.

Am I the only one who thinks Kranjcar is better ?
I know he plays in a more advanced position mind you so its a tough comparison.

Krankjar is a couple of years more developed maybe. Modric has more of an x-factor about him though - more pace, agility and less predictability.

He's only a year older.
Kranjcar strikes the ball better and is taller so better at holding off opponents.

Re: Luka Modric
It's hard to say, both have been ace in Croatia and for Croatia. If Modric came to England, like Krankjar, he might be good but nothing special. To spend £20m on him would be fucking stupid IMO, he might be another Silvio Maric!!!

What has he proven? He can play well in Croatia. What does that mean? f@ck all.
International football sucks for judging players aswell, look at David Healy(and a million others).
£20m would be a stupid risk.

Really? Then why isn't Healy playing for Barcelona? A manager should never look at international performances when buying a player.
