For Dinamo Zagreb, not exactly the hardest league to qualify in for them. And the world cup, big deal, i don't remember him doing anything, Croatia were shite. Luka Modric - Page 4 Confused0024

That's a $h!t example. The world cup means jack $h!t, players play well in it then get a move and do nothing, see Zokora(and a million others). And playing in the mighty CL means nothing if you qualify in one of the weakest leagues in europe. Would you be happy to see your club spend £20m on a players based on this lot? Rolling Eyes

Yes. Because unlike you I've actually seen him play quite a few times and every time he's looked a phenomenally talented player.

This happens when you’re linked with a English club these days your price sky rockets, as a investment yeah £20M is no problem, before the English link other clubs in Europe were scouting him, some bureaucrat in Zagreb decided they want £20M or so for him.

Even if he played amazing, is that enough to justify spending £20m on him? Half of that would be reasonable.

Its a price you have to pay for a player of his creativity in his position and at his age. Look at what Bayern paid for Ribery for instance.

It won't be £20m anyway - the press always overaxaggerate like this. I think the fee would be in reality around £14m.

Gattuso and Henry have the distinct advantage of not playing for the most underachieving country in the history of international football.

    True.

I also think he is very South American in style so maybe finds it hard to fit in with the national team's style of play.

Whoever buys him will need at least £16m+ IMO.

According to the Croatian media Mamic will be in London for four days, so we may know where he will end up very soon.

£16m+ is no problem for us if Sven thinks he is worth it. Still after getting Castillo i will be a bit surprised if we get him cos we have quite a few attacking mids, anyway in Sven we trust.

Manchester City are leading the race to sign Dinamo Zagreb midfielder Luka Modric. The Croatia star is set to cost Sven-Goran Eriksson £20m.

Dinamo Zagreb obviously would put the price up as Modric seems to be the golden boy of late. He's not worth £20M this could only deter teams .. could be a gamble though.

We have shown in the past we wont be ripped off and will only pay what Sven think a player is worth. I know Grip has been scouting him a lot and obviously Sven can always ask Corluka for his opinion.

Having Corluka at the club could be something that really helps us out if it turns into a battle to sign him with Tottenham, Chelsea and Arsenal.

Yeah, I thought the same when we were trying to sign Petrov, what with fellow Bulgarian Berbatov at ours. Fucker still went to City in the end Rolling Eyes

If we get Modric, it'll even things out nicely, although I doubt even our board would spend 20million on him
