Absolutely bloody typical that Carroll starts scoring as soon as I take him out of my fantasy team Grr

Liverpool look up for it and it's great to see them spanking the overpaid mercenaries but imagining Koscielny up against Carroll on Sunday isn't a pretty picture - is Djourou going to be back? Yikes

Had everything to become a top class defender, just needs to iron out the roughness in his game.

How Suarez plays reminds me of how Arshavin should play for us.

Koscielny is nothing more than a good squad player he is weak mentally and physicaly not cut out for the EPL, DJ and vermaelen are our best CBs by quite a distance. Koscienly is 24 and has only had 1 season in ligue 1 and we paid 10 mill for him no coincidence that he is french that we persist with him rather than spend a bit extra and gone for gary cahill who is proven in the epl

Kosciely could be far better than Cahill. And a little bit extra - enough £10 million.

He is fast, good on the ball, agressive. He has a good leap on him, even if his heading could be worked on. Watch his performance against Barcelona at the Emirates, he was the best defender on the pitch.

His performances when playing with Djourou have been fine for the most part. It's just when he plays with Squillaci he comes unstuck.

He did play very well against barca in the home tie, but in the away legg he was poor gave away a needless pen and almost did the same at blackpool yesterday. His disciplinary record isnt great, he is there because he is comfortable on the ball rather than being a good defender and he will make errors like the one in the carling cup final.

The one in the carling cup final was a mix up between him and Scezsney. Neither looks great from it, but at the same time, its unfair to blame him entirely, and you look to the goalie to take command of that situation.

We were being run ragged against Barca by that point, was inevitable. I will admit he can be rash though, but look at all the best defenders in the world, how many are that much younger than 30. He's only 24.

Best not to mention Kolarov either. An attacking full back who's slow, and doesn't appear to deliver many good crosses. Poor mans Leighton Baines.

well epl is lightyears behind in terms of passing, strikers in the epl have hard times, because they never get a perfect pass on his feet, so before the striker can try to shot he must fix the broken pass, thats the reason why the EPL has no consistent striker

Yeah he was good tonight. Looking like he's getting fitter again.

Good performance all round from the not so seriously weakened side.

    Mancini is thick as fuck.

I really cant believe he didnt try putting Johnson up against the 18 year old debut boy..and I cant believe he brought De Jong on towards the end. Its not that I think he should've brought on an attacker cos they might've won..it just reinforces the notion that he's a negative fool, especially vs near rivals. A kick in the teeth to the fans too IMO. Mongol.

Kuyt is pretty awful away from Anfield. Better to use him as a backup striker and only play him right mid when injuries dictate it. He also can't cross the ball at all so wouldn't create much for Carroll. I'm not sure what formation Dalglish is playing anyway. Suarez was up front with Carroll tonight and Kuyt and Meireles were just drifting where they wanted. We'll need options and Kuyt is a good one but I hope we get an upgrade in the summer.

Kos and Verm are the same age (25), in fact Kos is a couple of months older. I agree, considering he was playing in Ligue 2 only a couple of years ago, he's stepped up extremely well and there's great potential. It'll be interesting to see how the CBs pan out next season when Verm comes back.

Fair point. But it's clear that Koscielny is still learning. Vermaelon makes errors but appears the far more polished of the two players.
