Heard that stat as well from the Dutch commentator. Top9 or something like that.
Anyway, Liverpool is just a very plain team. Around the level of Fc Utrecht. 30 points gap between United. Yet Henderson is a superior player to Cleverley it seems to some. Actually im fairly sure that most Liverpool fans think their squad is around the same level as that of United. Fact is, not a single Liverpool player would walk into the current Unitted team.
0.-2 Lukaku.

Re: Premier League 9/10/11/17 February 2013
It's fair to say Liverpool are the new Spurs - just as shoots of hope begin to grow, the team conspires to crush them spectacularly. After holding Arsenal and Man City (and actually deserving to win one or both), this happens.
I had planned on doing some work this afternoon (US time), may have to hop over to RAWK and have a little browse for entertainment value.
Given the general consensus on there after Arsenal and Man City was this Liverpool squad is top 4 material and playing the best football in the league, it will be in meltdown.

I see what you mean, and you have a point. Most EPL matches look like a gloryfied ACN match. With a lot of hoofball, strong black strikers that hope for an oppertunistic cross/pass. But there are some Good teams to watch as well. Swansea and Man Utd come to mind.

Gerrard isn't the only one that couldn't finish out there, Liverpool created enough clear chances to score 5.

I have nothing to say really - only us would lose 2-0 after having 14 shots and gifted a pen compared to 2 shots. Season over for us in February which is the standard these days.

The sight of Ben Foster performing heroics doesn't just upset Liverpool fans.
Last game of the season last year, West Brom playing Arsenal - Foster injures himself in the warm up and misses his one and only game of the season (I believe named WBA's player of the season as well).
Substitute goalkeeper Marton Fulop literally chucks two goals into his own net, Arsenal winning 3-2 after being 2-1 down.
Arsenal finish in 3rd, 1 point ahead of us as a result.
Absolute fucker is Foster. Fucking fucker

This is THE reason why Spurs didnt end 3th. Dont mind the give aways against WBA and Norwich. Or the loss against Man City.
It was Foster not playing the last game of the season, and thus potentially keeping a clean sheet against Arsenal!
What a total c**t!

No, of course it wasn't SOLELY Foster's fault you vein riddled bellend.
However, it was a pretty bloody unfortunate chain of events to occur on the final day of the season, just like with lasagne-gate in 2006.
It was still highly conceivable that Arsenal could drop points away at West Brom that day, and they would have if Fulop hadn't dropped two absolute clangers.
I wouldn't be surprised if that West Brom V Arsenal game ends up being uncovered as one of the match fixing scandals so fishy was it

Re: Premier League 9/10/11/17 February 2013
I know he was terrible for Atletico, but he was usually good or better for Everton when having a run of games as CB. Previous two seasons our best central defender was Jagielka, but our best centre backs combination was Heitinga - Distin. Only recently it went nowhere, but I still don't like the fact that Heitinga along with Distin finished previous 2 season very strong and still Jagielka was an automatic starter.Jaime wrote:Luis wrote:Mad to think Heitinga played in a World Cup final. He's gone so woeful.
He's been pretty poor since his days in Atletico.
That's probably because he actually is doing well this season and was in much better form than Jelavic recently.Chris 23* wrote:Anichebe is so shite, why Everton play him I'll never know

Slightly off-topic I know, but i'd love to know how Nasri feels about his form. Title medal and bumper pay packet aside, he's stagnated so much since leaving Arsenal and he doesn't look to be enjoying his football.

Re: Premier League 9/10/11/17 February 2013
Oh yeah plenty of time on his hands, I just don't understand the Chelsea logic of letting Drogba go, not having Sturridge in the plans..but loaning out Lukaku too. Clearly he was ready for some game time..and Torres was never going to play all the games, regardless of form.
So now they've brought Ba in too, so even if Lukaku has a pretty good season he'll still probably be behind Ba.

Wasn't really that bad. another night we win 3-0. That's our problem though, we always seem to have the one day or one night which is the 1 in 100 rather than the other 99 times. Happened vs Villa, happened last night and happened both times vs City where we made the most stupid, brainless error to cost us the 3 points both times.
There is simply no excuse for how we give up when we go a goal down though. As soon as West Brom scored the ref might as well of blown the whistle - we were never forcing a late comeback; our mentality is weak, the players have no belief in themselves and are afraid to make mistakes.
We've played a lot worse this season than last night but the way we lost is completely unacceptable. The blame has to be with Rodgers last night - a) for tinkering with the system that was working great by going with 2 up front and having Henderson out wide. Shelvey was poor and has been for most of the season, to sacrifice Henderson who's been thriving in the central position was stupid. Sturridge out was a big blow but Rodgers could have easily just put Sterling in for him and not messed the system up too much. B) for making the wrong substitutions - to bring both Borini and Sterling on was too much change for a side that just needed some fresh legs in Sterling or Coutinho. Sterling should have come on for Shelvey and he should have moved Henderson into his preferred position. We lost so much discipline when Henderson went off.
Above all else, Rodgers needs to improve our mentality somehow. He has to make it clear that if we have chance after chance and it's still 0-0 will 10 minutes to go, we better damn well ensure the very worst we leave with is a point. Our defending was school boy yet again. Agger and Skrtel have completely forgot how to do the basics right for some reason. Enrique looked rusty as hell and Johnson had possibly his worst ever game for us - whether it's down to playing for England in a much different set up during the week I don't know. In goal, Reina still inspires no confidence; he couldn't have done anything for the first but the second a lot of other keepers would have done better.
We are now officially out of the race for 4th so the pressure should be off - because we all know our players can't cope with any sort of pressure. We have 12 league games remaining - it can go two ways, either the players will play with freedom, win a lot of them and give Rodgers a springboard for next season or they can do what they did during the last few months of last season and completely throw the towel in. Which option they choose will tell us a lot about their belief in Rodgers.
