Personally I think England need to build the side around Andy Carroll, comply with Carroll or die!!! Welbeck could make a decent partner.

this is supposed to be Brazil's best XI isn't it?

Hulk beasted Cahill or Jagielka in the buildup to that goal, I've never seen an England centre back melt so easily.

shows how desperate England are for players that we're having to bring on the son of an ex player to make up the numbers.

Good game after England decided to play football.

Fey, Brazil national team fans are not club football fans. They are mostly upper class booing son of bitches.

I'm happy for Paulinho's goal. It feels as if Corinthians scored. We missed him in the league game yesterday.

Better second half once they got scored against the game opened up. England is building from the back and not having quality to rely on in defence the midfield suffers even more than in past years. Hodgson only lets the side play if we need to score, well least we gave Brazil a game of some sort.

England played very well in the second half. England's first half, IMO, was horrible.

Neymar played well in the 1st and disappeared in the 2nd.

I think Lucas should be a starter.

Note: Brazilians hate Hulk and booed him a lot. After Scolari took Oscar out and kept Hulk, the crowd booed Scolari and sang "moron, moron, moron...". Those are our national team fans.

I noticed they wanted Oscar to stay on. Once Scolari puts all the parts together and let his A team play together they will come alive.

I was confused at the booing! Is this just because Hulk is the wrong style of forward? I thought he did fine out of position. My only real memory of Hulk for Brazil was of his being one of the only guys at the Olympics to play like he had a pair.

Real next-level awful performance from Walcott today, but Rooney improved. Think we would have lost in a competitive fixture without all the needless subs, but at least we scored a neat goal.

First half from England was truly fucking terrible. Brazil scoring was the best thing that happened to the game as England only then started to play. Exposes Hodgsons safety first tactics.

In the end 4 cracking goals after a turd first half. Brazil much the better initially but then strangely stopped playing after going one ahead. Odd game allround.

Brazil will do ok, but they don't play as a team. Certainly the top teams like Spain, Germany or Argentina won't be that worried about Brazil after last night's performance. Maybe I am being over- critical but I thought England being awful in the first half made Brazil look good, but when England decide to play in the second half, they both looked pretty average. The best player, oscar, had been subbed by then though so maybe Brazil could do better, but then England were also missing their best player, gerrard.

Neymar was ok in the first half, very much involved, but I don't remember hart making any brilliant saves, as his shots were pretty average. Walcott's chance was the closest anyone came to scoring in the first half. Neymar slowed the game down too much and tried to do too much himself rather than passing. He was invisible in the 2nd half.

Hulk had one nice flick, but didn't do much else. Sometimes I feel like a cool name gets you into the Brazil team, whereas a better player like Lucas Moura gets to sit on the bench.

Walcott got 6 in the times and 7 in another paper Shocked

There was me thinking that not even Luis would be able to defend his performance !

Brazil would be improved by Fernandinho and Vagner Love should get at least a squad place.

    Very Happy

It's a good spin but I would be more worried for England if Ukraine or Poland were above them. Respect to Montenegro for doing well so far, there's a big question mark over whether they can sustain it.

really? and i thought they were for a reason group leader, i don`t think that they will start to struggle

They have done amazingly well for a new country with 600,000 population and playing in a stadium with 12,000 capacity. But they have over achieved, while Ukraine, England and Poland have underperformed. However now their opponents will know them better, so they have lost the surprise element. They have a game against the Ukraine coming up so let's see how they do. Draw or win and they could well finish in the top 2, but if they lose the group can change dramatically within 1 or 2 rounds.

It was Iraq. Egypt vs England has just kicked off. England need to win since they drew their first two group games. It's been a good tournament so far, lots of sexy attackers and shite defenders. There's a place in the next round for the best of the rest, so a couple of teams who finish 3rd in their group will go through too.

Eurosport have this tournament, which is presumably why no one has noticed it's happening.

    HT 0-0

England have been clumsily dominating, there isn't too much to get excited about in terms of the players. Most interesting is Eric Dier, who was discovered by Sporting Lisbon while his mum was working in Portugal and stayed there when the family moved back to England.

England need to win to progress, or a high scoring draw might do it depending on the result in the other game. This 'best of the rest' qualification system is a nice idea since it stops dead rubbers.

    Egypt 2-0 England

Egypt have had two chances, and slotted them away cooly. England dominated the game, but in front of goal Harry Kane looks like a drunk giraffe on rollerskates.

Egypt seem to think they have qualified for the next round. They haven't, Ghana will qualify on goals scored.
