Yup, I think we covered this matter extensively.

When is the Supertaca? Next week? I'm itching for the League to start

Altough I don't know why. I can see Benfica going back to the bad all days of Vale e Azevedo, and finishing 4th or 5th. Sad

Hate to tell you but I can also see Benfica struggling to finish in the top 3. Btaga is looking pretty good, haven't seen Boavista but if they lose Jesualdo I think it'll take time to recover.

If Porto can't bring in the right guy quickly they could be in trouble as well. Hope Protheus doesn't mind me saying this, but I was hoping the Co meltdown would happen sometime during mid season or something, as is they're still in time to shape things up.

Sporting, well I just hope the guys can hold things together. They're not looking too bad. Paulo's brought in some good guys, hopefully they can add some experience (ex. Paredes).

Well haven´t been around for a while and the Porto time bomb blow up.

Well i can´t say it wasn´t unexpected but i never expect it would go like this.

He was way to much against the Porto flow, the Porto supporters were divided (hard to hide this fact, it was too obvious) and as it seems the board weren´t exactlly thinking and acting the same.

Personaly i am as much disappointed with Co as with the Board. Porto had such a bad management since the european glory that i wonder if it is not the time for a complete wipe-out of the SAD.

I am not one of the sheep who always say the club is right and all the others are wrong. Porto need a big revolution not just in terms of tactics and team philosophy but also with a lot of other things. But that topic would take loads of posts.

The team seems to be holding itself in the last friendlies with Portmout and Manchester City, but just holding. They are kinda lost.

They had a tactic that took ages to master and they have passed the worst part and now... they don´t know if the next manager will throw that behid all and return to a 4 defenders tactic.

Only time will tell, but i am fairly pessimistic.

P.S.: Not at all luso i would think the same of the other big Wink

    About Kezman...

Kezman was good against the smaller teams at PSV but in the big games he always wasn't at home...

In 10 Europa games for PSV he couldn't even score a single goal! Shocked I always said he wasn't good enough for a real big team. But, In the Superliga he can become topscorer but he won't score in the big games and European games...

BTW was it really Mourinho who bought him???? I am not sure but I thought he signed already before Mourinho signed for Chelsea..

Mourinho brought Kezman in for 7 Mil Euro, I'm certain of that. He's one of Mourinho's 'bad buys'.

Certain he brought him in, not on the price however...but I'm pretty sure it was 7.

You know it better than me I suspect! Wink Don't care about how much he spent but it was a waste of money and when he really knew Kezman very well before the buy he never would have bought him!

You think Nelson will get more playing time this season?

Benfica fans were already saying that he's better than Miguel, but he doesn't even play regularly for you guys.

He does cross a bit better than Miguel to.

is it going to be a real title race this year?

whats the latest on Porto's new coach? i hope they do get Queiroz.

i wonder if Gama/Vieirinha will get any playing time?

so Simao is defentiley staying now.

i have three wishes for this season.

    1) we start badly Santos goes
    2) we recover and reclaim the title.
    3) we reach the 1/4 of UCL.

Well, 1-2 on a crap game. Ok Goals, and Fonseca showing he may be a plus if he gets some decent crosses.

Would have liked to see some more of Kaz Patacfa (spelling?)

But with 13 players out, it was the possible exhibition

So looks like Valencia is offering Joaquin less money then they did Simão. I believe the Simão deal was estimated at 1.8 Mil Euros/year, they seem to be offer Joaquin a 6 year contract at 1.5 Mil Euros/year.

I wonder if Simão is wisihing he had taken the deal. He probably will if Joaquin does make the move and goes on to shine for Valencia. A bit of the 'that could've been me' syndrome perhaps...

Don't think he cares that much. He is highly paid at Benfica, and if he stays will be reinstated as captain, probably get a bumper paycheck, and if Benfica qualifies for the CL, if he plays well again, get a few more EPL clubs after him and maybe get a better payd contract

That's the only thing I can think of. He must be hoping some English club will still come in for him. It's easier to get out of his Benfica contract then it would be the Valencia one obviously, if he were to sign, as it would be a fresh long term deal.

Looks like he may be willing to wait for something that really meets his expectations.

How much does he make at Benfica?

£60.000 a week to Liverpool I think or £3M a year. But don't quote me on that.

So, everyone ready for a new season? IMO SCP has real chances this year of winning the championship. I still see Porto as the main candidate and i don't believe Benfica has a team and specialy a coach to fight for 1st place. But they've recently won a championship with a worst team so...... Smile

    mmmm almost

Boring game until Porto scored as Setúbal was more interested in not let Porto play than to play to win themselves, then easy game for Porto with wonderful goals and a solid perfomance. Finaly young players in the team Andersson and Vieirinha had a good perfomance.

One thing i don´t get it is why tv and radio comentators always praise defensive perfomances of "smaller" teams when they play the three big.
I hate Setúbal type of game (not the club and city i like thouse Wink ), they always play on the super defensive way trying to play on the counter attack and set pieces. This destroys the game in my opinion and get no praise from me.

Braga and Nacional for instance, last year played offensive footbal and gave a lot of trouble to stronger teams. It is possible to play offensive footbal and get away with it. I think most managers have too much fear.

I see a lot of european footbal and when i see smaller spanish, italian and english teams playing stronger oposition they play to win not to win on a lucky break (of course there are exceptions but most of the time they play to attack).

As it is, this kind of defensive teams when find themselves behind have no willpower or game to fight back, they just throw the towel.

I hope to see more offensive teams this season.

    3-0 Benfica over Austria.

Very nice to see 3 Portuguese clubs in the CL this year, hopefully they take full advantage of this oportunity and prove they can play good football.

I'd like to see all three make at least the quarters. They need to do well to get closer to Germany and keep Holland off their backs.
