Re: Segunda division thread - Liga BBVA
The game in Murica's new stadium, the opener was a terrible one from them. The game finished as I reported in the previous post. Valladolid winning 4-1 to go second, only below Xerez on goal difference, who grabbed a late, late goal to level at Almeria. The team from eastern Andalucia still look good in seventh however. Salamanca missed the chance to go level with Xerez and Valladolid after losing to Malaga whilst fourth is occupied by Sporting after a 0-0 against Alaves, fifth by the defeated Murcia and sixth by a still confident Poli Ejido who picked up a battling point at Cadiz, who have now had three draws under new coach Jose Gonzalez. At the bottom Elche and Vecindario picked up vital wins to make things look a tad easier, although it is still a daunting task for the latter. Ponferradina (who lost to Vecindario) slipped below Elche. The other relegation spot is occupied by Las Palmas.

The big game at the Carranza between los amarillos and top of the table Valladolid has just kicked off. Big game and one which could really show are steal if we are to get back in the promotion battle.

Ended 0-0. Good result for both sides you have to feel. Third 0-0 at the Carranza in a row though , Gonzalez has yet to see the side score a goal at home!

Re: Segunda division thread - Liga BBVA
1-0 Cadiz at half time against Real Madrid Castilla, certainly deserved. Pablo Hernandez looks a real prospect in an attacking midfield role, signed from Valencia a couple of weeks back. His goal was a beauty, beating a couple of defenders before unleashing a fantastic finish from the edge of the area. Second half starting on Real Madrid TV in a few minutes.

We beat Tenerife 1-0 today, another great victory to keep the run going. Now up to third and hoping that Murcia beat Almeria tomorrow to keep us there. Wouldn't be surprised if the top 3 stay as they are now.

Re: Segunda division thread - Liga BBVA
A disappointing weekend. Despite a good, hard performance in Murcia, we lost 1-0. From a defensive point of view, a poor goal to concede as the wall let a low free kick sneak underneath. A victory for Almeria this weekend means the fixture against them at the Carranza on Saturday is huge. If we lose we will be eight points away from the top 3....win and the margin will be just two.

Re: Segunda division thread - Liga BBVA
So the Almeria game finished 2-2. Two points dropped by the sounds of it, we played fantastic and should have won easily.
The pressure is really on. We cannot afford to drop too many more points at this time with the fantastic form of the current top 3 and competition below from the likes of Ciudad Murcia.
Valladolid came back from 2-0 down to beat Poli Ejido 3-2 earlier, a clear indication of their quality, surely they're almost home and dry now.

Re: Segunda division thread - Liga BBVA
Unlucky mate. There is always rojadirecta though!
This guy Ortiz sounds like he carried Almeria, other than his two goals, they had nothing. Pablo Hernandez is the prospect I am really excited about for us. Sounds like he had another great game. Was by far and away best player in yellow in both games I have seen him play in against Castilla and Murcia. We need to make sure he signs a proper and permanent deal as the drawback is that Valencia can recall him back at any time.
Crucial we beat Salamanca next week.

Cadiz with a comfortable 2-0 win over Salamanca. My man Pablo with the first, rounded off by Pavoni. Have just watched the final few moments of Almeria's victory over Castellon. A bad result for us, but we'll catch them eventually!

Re: Segunda division thread - Liga BBVA
So Xerez grabbed a second half goal to deny Valladolid another victory, surely their great run will end sooner or later. As for us - we simply have to keep on winning and hope Almeria slip up.....the table.......
1. Valladolid 55
2. Murcia 50
3. Almeria 47
4. Cadiz 42
5. Numancia 41
6. Ciudad Murcia 39
7. Poli Ejido 38
8. Xerez 37

Re: Segunda division thread - Liga BBVA
A huge knock to our promotion ambitions. Not only did we lose to the third time this season to relegation candidates Castellon but Murcia picked up a useful point at in form Alaves and then Almeria picked up three points away to Hercules.
They are now 8 points clear and ironically it is us who take on Hercules next week. The team from Alicante have now had to play Murcia, Almeria and Cadiz in their last three games - a difficult run of fixtures to say the least.
Almeria face Alaves - who still have very distant hopes of a quick return to the primera themselves.

Yeh - since the Christmas break we have risen right up the table. Even when we were fourteenth though - it was very close so were only a matter of 6 odd points from fourth.

Re: Segunda division thread - Liga BBVA
Murcia got a fantastic result in Soria to go back above Almeria into second. The result slightly surprising considering the recent form of Numancia and the defeat to Albacete at the Nueva Condomina last week. Yesterday Albacete got a second half goal to deny Almeria the three points. So all in all everything goes in favour of Valladolid who look promoted already with Cadiz facing a rising Alaves with a chance to go fourth later.

Re: Segunda division thread - Liga BBVA
Cadiz go down 2-1 to Albacete. That is it for me - we are out of the race for promotion. Hugely dissapointing for a squad with huge potential at this level. To go down to a mid table Albacete team at the Carranza is awful. Good luck to Almeria, Murcia and Valladolid in the primera next year.

Re: Segunda division thread - Liga BBVA
Results of sides in promotion "contention"....
Yesterday -
Xerez 3-1 Castilla
Las Palmas 1-0 Murcia
Sporting 1-2 Almeria
Today -
Valladolid 1-0 Malaga
Ciudad 2-1 Tenerife
Numancia 1-0 Cadiz
Our chances of promotion go from 98% against to 99% against today with another defeat this time against Numancia which sees us slip to 8th.
Valladolid's march to the primera is done and dusted. Their win against Malaga today saw the away side slip into the relegation zone. Almeria also look to be almost there but Murcia were halted by in form Las Palmas. The deficit between them and city rivals Ciudad (fourth) slipped to nine points - but they are still in a very good position to get the third place to the primera. Xerez and Numancia remain ten points behind whilst Poli Ejido followed by Cadiz look to be out of it.

Re: Segunda division thread - Liga BBVA
This weeks big match is the Murcia derby between Real and Ciudad. If Real win it is fair to say that the three promotion places are almost decided - if Ciudad get the three points against their more illustrious neighbors the margin will be back down to 6 and the race still on for the remaining 10 jornadas. Behind Ciudad Xerez look to have a relatively easy task on the plastic pitch at Vecindario - effectively already relegated, Numancia also face a relegation threatened side in Castellon whilst Cadiz face Sporting at the Carranza and Poli Ejido fly south to face Tenerife. If any slip up - their hopes of promotion will look even more unlikely.
Table topping Valladolid face Castilla who now look reasonable bets for the drop whilst second placed Almeria have an improving Las Palmas side at home.

Re: Segunda division thread - Liga BBVA
Well a case of mixing and matching them as best as possible. They try and regionalise each league but it is sometimes difficult. This season it is looking like Vecindario (Grand Canaria) will go down along with Lorca (south east) and perhaps Castellon (east) and Castilla (central) so it won't be too bad and they will be able to slot into each respective league.

Re: Segunda division thread - Liga BBVA
Latest scores incidentally...
Castilla 1-2 Valladolid
Malaga 2-0 Lorca
Vecindario 1-0 Xerez
Murcia 0-0 Ciudad
Hercules 0-0 Albacete
Watching a bit of the game in Madrid and Valladolid look so strong. The key to them staying up next season will be hgolding on to Llorente but I have a feeling some mid table or larger primera clubs will come sniffing. Perhaps Sociedad or Athletic if they stay up as he is a Basque lad.

Re: Segunda division thread - Liga BBVA
Murcia with two second half goals to almost confirm their promotion. They are now 12 points ahead of Ciudad with 10 jornadas to go. No way back I feel. The teams below Almeria (who are now third with a game in hand) simply playing for fourth place now. Hopefully los amarillos will get there. Our target has to be fourth and finishing above puta xerez.
At the other end the coños from the costa del sol got a 4-0 victory against Lorca who look down. The relegation race is going to be very interesting. My money is on Castilla and Malaga to go down with those already condemned (Lorca and Vecindario)

Cadiz 1-1 Sporting de Gijon
Very disappointing. Thats 3 draws and 2 loses in the last five - a record that certainly isn't going to get us fourth place. Fans have certainly given up on any hope of promotion - just 10,000 in the Carranza today - the lowest of the season.
