Sneijder Move Causes Madrid Rift
Wesley Sneijder may have become a transfer target for Real Madrid or Arjen Robben and Royston Drenthe will be the last two signings the club makes this summer.
Los Merengues' plans for next season have sparked a news battle between the two major sports newspapers based in the Spanish capital as Marca and AS make different predictions.
Bernd Schuster's arrival as coach has changed the scenario at the Bernabéu as he does not want to make any more major changes to the squad.
Having given the green light to move for Robben and Drenthe, AS believe that the German will promote Iván De la Red and Estaban Granero to the first team.
A bid has been submitted for Robben and both papers also agree that talks with Feyenoord will continue this week about Drenthe.
AS go on to state that De la Red will become a permanent member of the first team under Schuster and Granero, a star of the recent Under-20 World Championships in Canada, is set to sign a new contract and move up.
Following Barça's impressive spending spree this summer, however, Marca are demanding that Madrid sign one big name to lift the fans expectations.
After landing Christoph Metzelder, Javier Saviola and Jerzy Dudek on free transfers, the only money spent has been €30m to prise Pepe away from Porto.
The paper is keen to see Madrid splash the cash and claims that Sneijder has been targetted after the refusal of Cesc Fàbregas to even hold talks.
Valencia's bid to sign the Ajax star broke down over the Dutch giants' asking price, but that would pose few problems for los Merengues if Schuster really does want him.

Despite being 3ft tall, he's a very good player, with qualities not widely available: 2 footed, assists (and general vision), plenty of goals from midfield and (little play can do this well) good at speeding up the game, making an attack switch from 1 wing to the other. Could be 1 of the greatest midfield pivots.Torrente wrote:Marca claims we're now after the midget

I know that Sneijder is very good. I've seem him play on numerous occasions. I just don't think it's worth spending a lot of money on him. I would definitely prefer if we went for someone like Diego. Also, Granero is rumored to be promoted to the first team next season. So with Guti, Gago (even though he usualy plays deeper than Sneijder), De la Red, and Granero, there's no need to buy Sneijder IMO.

Its up to Schuster really , i think the Valencia 'move' talks have broken down .. so realistically if we believe Marca , Real Madrid are the only ones interested
I can see Real signing Robben and not Sneijder.

Chivu flips out at his agent
Cristian Chivu has hit out at his agent after moves to Barcelona and Real Madrid collapsed and Inter announced that they will do no more to sign him from Roma.
The Romanian central defender is furious with his representative, Ion Becali, that negotiations broke down with the two Spanish giants.
Inter are also keeping their distance for fear of upsetting Roma and Chivu is reported to be ready to axe his agent as a result of the failure to find him a new club.
Now he has demanded that Becali remedy the situation and begin talks again.
"You {Becali] have put me and Inter in a difficult situation and now you have to fix it," Chivu told the Italian media.
"We gave you our confidence, the same as I did with Inter and the result is that now everyone has problems with me."
Chivu had the choice of joining Barca or Madrid last month, but negotiations between the clubs and his agent faltered over Becali's cut of the deal.
After hearing the demands both clubs began talks with other players as the Blaugrana signed Gabriel Milito from Real Zaragoza and los Merengues paid €30million for Pepe from Porto.
"You left me alone and all this after two trains called Barcelona and Real Madrid passed by," the former Ajax star continued.
"When trains like this pass you are obliged to jump on board because, if not, then they do not stop and will carry on to the next station.
"Things can not continue like this."
Despite reports that Roma would take him back, Chivu is said to believe that the relationship with the club is now untenable and he wants to move before the start of the new season.

Sure, Chivu. Blame it all on your agent. He's just a greedy c**t just like yourself.

Re: Real Madrid C.F. 2007/08
Let the Robben games begin
Real bid for Blues ace
Real Madrid have tabled a bid for Chelsea winger Arjen Robben, according to the player's agent.
The Spanish giants have been linked all summer with the Holland international and have now made a reported £13.5million offer.
However, whether Real get their man is another story as just last weekend manager Jose Mourinho stated he thought Robben would be staying.
Chelsea have little need to raise funds although the summer capture of Florent Malouda from Lyon could well hinder Robben's starting chances.
Robben's agent and father Hans has now confirmed Real have bid for his son and that the former PSV Eindhoven ace is interested in a move to El Santiago Bernabeu.
"I know Real have made a bid to Chelsea for my son," he told the Sun.
"When you are talking about Real Madrid, it has to be said that it's one of the best clubs in the world.
"Who wouldn't want to play for Real Madrid? My son wants to play at clubs that can win the Champions League and Real Madrid are one of the them."

I'm really worried about us buying Mr. Glass. Great player, but I don't think he's completed a full season with either Chelsea or PSV in the last 5 years without getting injured for a significant amount of time.

Real Madrid are making six senior players available following the appointment of new coach Bernd Schuster.
DiarioSport says Schuster has told Real management that veterans Michel Salgado and Ivan Helguera aren't part of his plans for the new season. Brazilian trio Marcelo, Emerson and Julio Baptista, plus Alvaro Meija, are also on the outer.
Antonio Cassano is also expected to be moved on should Real receive a suitable offer. Fenerbahce have expressed interest in the ex-Roma striker.

Real Madrid have signed Boca Juniors pair Santiago Villafane and Juan Forlin.
Both players are 19 years old and saw action for Argentina in this month's U20 World Championships. Villafane is a left-sided wing-back, while Forlin plays at centre-half.
The pair, who will soon receive their Italian passports, will spend the next two seasons on-loan at Real's Castilla team, with the Madrid giants having the option to make the deal permanent.

Who should real sign VDV Or Midget?

Yeah, but he was more of a withdrawn striker than a central midfielder.
Either way, I think there's a 90% chance Baptista will leave. I think that partly why we got Saviola is because Schuster rates him over Baptista so I don't see Baptista staying. Raul, Higuain, Saviola, and possibly Robinho (if Schuster plays him there) should be enough for 2nd strikers.

Formation change
"Another change in the works includes the team lining up in a different formation. The double pivot in the midfield would shift to an attack-oriented rhombus, where a self-restrained and organised midfielder can shoulder the load for the team. The wingers will be glued to the sideline and will constantly interact with the left and right backs in the attempt to double-up along the flank and surprise the opponent. The attack-point of the rhombus will be held by an attacking midfielder who will take on the task of distributing the ball between the midfield and the two forwards." - Bernd Schuster (13-07-2007)

Why not get Dani Alves and Lucho as well? It'd only cost you 50 million more in addition to the 60 or so you'll spend on the other four.
