Well you see you've missed the point of the whole article, because its not just about Torres, its about many of the Liverpool players... Doh

Thats the point in reading a 'whole article' so that you don't make quick judgements, if this is reflective of your personality it explains a lot...

Missed the game. Only Pool game i saw this season was the Chelsea one. They outplayed them for most of the game, but in general Chelsea were poor and Pool didn't exactly create clear cut chances. They got a better team/squad than last year, but the title? no chance <Ale> Biggrin

Toulouse were Cr@p to be fair, but you have to praise our lads, because we for large portions of the game made them look Cr@p, we kept the ball extremely well, and created lots of chances.

The only critism is that we only scored 4, it could and perhaps should have been 7.

Haven't got round to my verdict on last night's game so will do now.

I thought Toulouse were really poor last night, I don't know if they are that poor normally, they are in the top flight and beat Lyon earlier this season (be it with one more man on the pitch) so they aren't mugs really, I thought away from home we found it difficult to break them down at times, maybe it was partly due to the heat in France.

Last night we absolutely steamrolled them from start to finish, I have never seen such a convincing European performance from Liverpool besides maybe when we thrashed Leverkusen over two games a few years back or so.

The new boys certainly did themselves justice I thought, it was a game for a few of the 'back ups' to Impress and they did just that, Leto I thought did ok, he wasn't phenomenal or anything but he must of been a bit nervous, he didn't make any mistakes though and looked fairly comfortable on that left wing, he's quite pacy but perhaps a little too lightweight at this stage in his career, he looks one for the future.

Benayoun really really impressed me, his determination was outstanding, he was quick to every ball, always looked to create chances and generally was a nightmare for the Toulouse defenders to handle, I think his MOTM performace may just have earnt himself a place in the team on Saturday, maybe on the left of midfield.

Babel also impressed me when he came on, it has to be said he's looked a lot better coming on as a sub than starting games so far, I thought he was poor against Sunderland, he went missing almost during the game and didn't do a lot, but last night he looked lively again, similarly to when he came on against Chelsea 2 weeks ago, I like his touch on the ball, he's very confident with the ball at his feet and isn't afraid to shoot either which is always good to see in a young player.

I thought the central midfield pairing of Sissoko and Masch worked a treat last night, I'm not a fan of them normally playing together but I don't think the Toulouse attack had a chance in hell trying to get past those two last night, the problem Rafa now has is which one of them gets the nod in the team? or will he even leave both of them out when Gerrard returns? it's a tough decision.

Arbeloa impressed me again, I'm beginning to really like this lad, he's quite reliable and is very versatile as well, he can play anywhere in the defence which is great to have, particularly at a time when we are short of defensive options with a few injuries, he's certainly a great addition to the squad.

We should have scored more really, Kuyt was frustrating yet again as was Crouch at times but in the end they did score and we got through.

I'm really optimistic this season, everything looks in place.

Indeed a fantastic prospect. Though it would be nice if he got to play and not be stuck behind Arbeloa, Aurelio, Riise, and you even tried for Heinze when Insua is just like him.

    How much was the fee?

Not sure, but it will be around the £1 million mark I think. Riise is poor at left back, and Arbeloa isn't all that (much better at right back, but he's alright on the left) Aurelio is always injured too, so I wouldn't be surprised to see him play a bit. He'll definitely play in the league cup, because Rafa doesnt give a damn about that tournament.

    I'm thinking 4 - 0, 5 - 0? Torres to score a few?

Crouch doesn't deserve to start with all of the chances he missed against Toulouse. Kuyt and Torres will do me fine Ale

We certainly do. Mascherano, Xabi, Momo and Stevie are 4 of the best midfielders in the league, Torres hasn't needed any time to adapt, our defence is the best and our wingers aren't all that bad either.

Momosaurous ate the Barcelona midfield last year. If he could pass in a straight line he'd be one of the best in the world.

Currently, he's one of the best in the premiership - he'd get into any midfield apart from those of the top four imo.

Rafael Benitez today revealed it's unlikely there'll be any new arrivals at Anfield before tomorrow night's transfer deadline.
The Liverpool manager admitted he has scoured the market to assess what might be available, but has decided he's happy with the squad at his disposal.

Reserve striker Besian Idrizaj has today completed a season long loan deal with Crystal Palace, but Benitez insists there'll be no major activity to report before the window closes.

"We were checking some options for the first team squad yesterday, but it's very difficult to find the right players this late. I don't think we will be signing anyone now," he said.

"Rick, Foster, Eduardo (Macia) and I looked at some options, but we decided we don't want to sign a player just for the sake of it. It has to be the right player and not for crazy money."

Despite continued speculation linking Peter Crouch with a last minute exit from Anfield, Benitez has once again reiterated he has no interest in selling his striker.

"There has been no bid for Crouch, certainly not before this morning anyway," said Benitez. "I have the same idea now as I've said before. I don't want to let anyone go. I've spoken to the player and he knows
