Yeah, I remember, good old days... there were some really interesting discussions back then ok

So do you still run that website on italian football?

I think Prandelli plans to stay, but coaches have a much smaller shelf life at a club in Italy than in England... whether he will be allowed to complete his project remains to be seen... you never know, one bad season, and Prandelli and his project might just go out of the window.

I am a bit pissed and disgusted with some of the english posters here and their blatant lying at the mo, so don't mind if I pass the opportunity to compare italian and english teams for a while.

Tweedle wrote:Do you think Prandelli plans to stay with Fiorentina for the long haul and see the fruits of the squad he's assembled bluey or do you think he may be tempted away in the near future?

Also, whilst we're at it, how would you compare Fiorentina and Spurs and if you had to make a combined squad of the two, who would make the team?

I think Spurs and Newcastle are actually very strong, so are Everton, WH, and City now... Spurs just need a better manager!

You are putting someone elses words in my mouth. Never a good thing, specially when you use that to call me ignorant!!

bluenine wrote:Bias perhaps, but ignorance? Tut tut, Prince, nice statement but can you substantiate that?? It won't be easy, coz I do watch more EPL than quite a few EPL fans here for over a decade and a half... admitingly more out of availability than choice, if I got complete Serie A coverage I would probably stop watching any other league.

But I haven't been accused of ignorance re football before... so am very curious, what are these comments that you are talking about?

I do end up defending italian football here regularily, thats more coz too there are too many english posters, and too few italian, so there is a huge natural bias against the italians here.

    Handsome Prince Of Saxony wrote:
So its swings and roundabouts - I dont feel sorry for Bluenine as such, as I have heard comments from him which have smacked of ignorance in the past about EPL clubs, but thats the nature of the beast - the guy loves his Italian football and defends what he enjoys

Ignorance perhaps a strong word. You're a thoroughly likeable poster/chap, so dont get me wrong.

The general opinion of most followers of European football, particularly on this board, does seem to be that the teams outside the top 4 in England are 2nd rate kick and rush. As a follower of the mighty Spurs, my defence is to shout "ignorant".

I see this is a touchy issue. Lets make peace Dove

Here, have a rose. But not in a gay way Rose

    And a hug Hug

Diversity is a great thing, so carry on being you- we do need pro Italian/Serie posters on here, to help broaden our horizons, over some variety and, at the end of the day, instigate debate and banter.

I say banter, because to me its nothing more than that. So carry on the good work bluenine. I retract my ignorant comment is this helps matters <Ale>

Bluenines a very good poster and the bastion of Italian football on here. I do see why he gets frustrated with certain (I include myself) English posters views as many make comments on Seri A based purely on supposition. He is the biggest Italian poster so he finds himself defending the league (on his own) against multiple posters.

He does go over the top with some of his comments, but not more than most posters. His views are usually fair (to an extent) and balanced. In the big united v Roma debate last season he WAS the only Italian poster who gave us respect and said we would probably win.

However like most posters he has his flaws and his biggest flaw is that he worships false gods *cough*Rosina*cough*Pelle*cough* and fails to realise that the true saviour of Italian football is; boywonder Rossi. Biggrin

So what? a team can have top class names but may not be a top class team, the Italian league is far more competative than the silly German league, Juventus are a better team than Bayern and will prove it when both end up facing each other in next years champions league.

    End of story.

Bayern are currently full of quality, and would be a match for ANY side in Europe, let alone Juve. The fact that the likes of Podolski, Schweinsteiger, Van Buyten & Sosa can't make the first team is testament to that. They can currently shadow every position with genuine quality, and for me would have been genuine CL contenders for the first time in a few years if they had participated.
