Very irritating, I agree. It was like she was reading out of a commentators phrase book and trying to sound like a man.

BTW Deco's got nothing on Gerrard.. dive outside the box and then talking to the ref afterwards to get the poor Everton player sent off.. English sportsmanship
does anyone actually really believe he dived or is this just all agenda bullshit ???
He dived in the same way that Deco or Dinho does.. meaning that it is a 50-50 decision. Not really a clear foul but he decided to go down to try to get the ref to give him a freekick..
Just pointed it out, because we are constantly blamed for diving and cheating so it cracks me up when one of these great English sportsmen do exactly the same thing.. If it had been a Barcelona player I wouldn't have minded.. it is all part of the game.
It is totally different though and you know it
there are a guaranteed 5-10 dives in every barca game
here we have a decision which isn't even close to a dive and people say this evens up the criticism spanish teams get
ridiculous but now is not the time to go into detail about it
COTR, you didn't understand Oleguer's point. He was trying to point out the difference between a blatant dive, and a player going down to ensure he gets just reward for the foul the defender committed, which otherwise wouldn't be called out. Samba explains it better later on:Juego de la Okkas wrote:
Diving and going down easily are two different things. In Spain if a player is out-muscled off the ball he will go down, whereas in England - due to the physical nature of the game - will try to stay up. The idea that diving or 'piscinazos' aren't condemned is BS.
Anyway, it doesn't matter because I think it was a fair decision, though possibly out of the box. Either way, it evens up the Chelsea decision.
The 'Chelsea decision' evened up the Aston Villa decision. Since then the decisions have been piling up in Liverpool's favour. The Chelsea panalty was the best thing that could have happened to Liverpool. How many more points are they going to get because referees are frightened of upsetting them and their supporters in the media?

The villa decision
you mean a 50/50 decision where none of us even saw petrov getting the ball until the replay on MOTD. So a free kick 30 yards from goal = one of the worst pen decision of all time
Are you insane this morning rosy ?
The ref only got one thing wrong yesterday with the pen not given at the end but since the match should have been over anyway justice was done

No you are insane if you think Kuyt should have remained on the field. A mid air two footed lunge. It has no place in football. Had he connected then he could easily have broken the players leg.

Well he would have done well to break his legs considering his feet were not even out
Kuyt got lucky because he left the ground but there was very little intent, zero contact and it looked far far worse than it actually was

By the way the decision for the penalty which Liverpool made such a fuss over looked clear enough on the first call and from where the referee was standing (not to Liverpool fans because Liverpool fans are on the refs back for every decision given against them). Is it right that the referee was forced into making an apology for that whereas there is no chance he will be asked to apologise for yesterday's poor decisions?

Little intent? Give us a break, he was annoyed at the tackle made on him and jumped into a reckless tackle. He claimed afterwards that there was no intent but he would say that wouldn't he?

Regarding the games yesterday;
Liverp0-0l peaked against Derby and since then have gone back to their usual level. The ref and the linesman are the only thing keeping them going. Yesterday it was 12 against 10 as the ref gave P0-0l the game; Kuyt should have been sent off and Everton should have had at least one penalty.
United are getting back into the groove 8 goals in the last two games. Many thought we would struggle due to the loss of Carrick, Hargreaves, Saha and Vidic and playing 6 attacking players in the same team. However the opposite happened and the team has thrived.
Rooney is on fire at the moment (he has 6 goals and 1 assist in his last 5 games) and showing why he is one of the best young players in the world. I am sure if he was South American we would probably see a few threads about how he is the best player in the world, but instead we will probably get the usual suspects claiming that he isnt very good and was better 4 years ago.
Young and Gabby were really good yesterday and I think they should be getting some minutes for England.
Alex's goal was brilliant and Man City are really impressing me, I still dont think they will finish 5th despite the impressive start.

I like the way you do not mention the key injuries we have had, particularly when it was the exact excuse you united fans were using at the start of the season when you were playing poorly
the rest of the thread shows what I thought of the ref yesterday. Basically he nearly cost us the game by playing too much extra time so we were nearly hard done by

I am always impartial, you have had some key injuries although I think Rafas rotation was probably a bigger reason for the poor form.
The difference between our situation was that our two best players didnt play more than 45 minutes together until our 7th league game of the season and the new players lacked match fitness and were new to the team.
You're all talking about how you miss Alonso but last season Mascherano was much better than him. Agger is a big miss, but your defence isnt the reason why you're playing horrible football.
As for the ref adding too much time on, it was justified as the penalty and sendng off of Neville meant that stoppage time would increase. Even you have to admit that you got lucky and the ref gave you the game. Well at least you cant complain if united get a lot of favourable results.
