Put him and Lumpard together and you have two glory seekers in one team. No wonder England look so Cr@p when they play together. It astonishes me the way his supporters ignore the huge number of passes that go astray and concentrate on the occasional killer pass.

The central players should either be great readers of the game (i.e. a Mascherano in midfield, Carragher in defence) or intelligent players (i.e. Alonso in midfield, Agger/Hyppia in defence). I don't think Gerrard comes under either category, so his best position imo is out wide, where he can get away with playing at 300mph (or as Benitez effectively said yesterday "playing with his heart but not his head"). I think he's a poor long range passer but he can put in some awesome crosses from the byeline. So if he has to start or come on for England I'd rather it were to play on the wing (with instructions from McLaren to stay the f@ck away from the centre).

I think we'll do them, like we usually do. For the first time this season we'll play with 11 men instead of 10(Smith is suspended), so i'm feeling confident.
