Lacks the pace or skill to go past people.
You see, in terms of your argument, you have to accept this as valid, or admit you've offered nothing to this discussion. What a twat you look right now.

Very skilful guy - infact If he kept his mouth shut and been patient, he'd be in the Arsenal team instead of them signing one of Hleb or Rosicky.
Arsenal fans delude themselves into thinking that every single one of their cast-offs are $h!t. They'll be right about Walcott in 3 years once they've seen the light...

No, he isnt particularly quick, however he is two footed and very good on the ball. Not a direct winger in the sense of knocking it past a player than running onto it, he is more canny than that- hence why there have been calls for him to play in the centre.
His performance against the Italian u21's at Wembley was, for 70 minutes, glorious to watch.
Certainly in my mind good enough to play a big part for Arsenal were he stil there, who have never really played with traditional wingers anyway.

Have a look over the thread again and see who is on the wind up. I merely offered an opinion in the first instance. Then two Arsenal fans show up being aggressive, mocking and sarcastic. I respond in like fashion, beat them at their own game and they f@ck off. Then you turn up and try to pin the whole thing on me.
You are a weak man Frank. Grow the f@ck up, and stick some sprouts down your pants so you at least look like you've got some balls.

I'm not comparing him to your average PL player or even the likes of Gerrard, Lampard, Barry, Jenas. I'm comparing him to the elite e.i. Arteta, Anderson, Nani, Berbatov, Hleb, Van Persie, J.Cole. For example in terms of skill, DMs like Mikel and Lassana Diarra have better close control and ball manipulation than him.The Real Martin Troll wrote:Bentley is a skillfull lad. I agree with the recent comments about Bentley, I think he is a talented player and has plenty of skill. As I've said before I think moving away from Arsenal did him a lot of good. Not making it at Highbury made him grow up and mature from the arrogant player he was at Arsenal and Norwich. He was on the way to wasting his talent, but he has been impressive since joining Blackburn. I definitely think he is better than MGP, who as it has already been said, can be a bit of a MOTD player. Does lots of spectacular things but is probably not as consistent as he should be.

I think his youthful arrogance combined with never getting a game at Arsenal made it impossible for him to continue his career there. Since going to Blackburn he's been one of the most consistent AM players in the league.

Probably true, but this is a thread about which teams you like to watch, not which players you'd sign if you were a manager (as some people who shall remain nameless insist on treating it). A player who about half a dozen times a season does something absolutely draw jopping is more fun to watch than a consistently better player with a more simple, predictable but more effective game.

Basically, I'm looking for you to admit here that you were being hyperbolic in your initial criticism of Betnley because you were on the wind up because you couldn't stand my daring to call Arsenal predictable and boring. Your sensitivities surrounding your club are such that any such statement must be met with resounding contradiction, so much so that you went completely overboard in criticising a player I had implicitly praised.
We all know this is what happened. Anyone with half a brain and the words to speak could tell you this. Accept it and move on.

1. Newcastle United -- started liking them after they ensured Barcelona finished bottom of their group in the 1997/98 CL plus they had Tino Asprilla who was one of my favorites.
2. Manchester United -- we always have great ties when we play them in Europe.
3. Tottenham -- I really liked them back in the late 80s when they had Waddle, Gascoigne, and Lineker...plus they where white shirts.
4. Liverpool -- Mostly for McManaman
5. Chelsea -- Because now there is another club for people to b!tch about "buying" titles.
6. Manchester City -- the Oasis fan in me likes to see them do well.
7. West Ham United -- because of the movie with Frodo and for Deano
8. Everton -- I don't know, I like Arteta...
9. Derby -- they're rubbish now but I enjoyed them back in the day when they had Dean Saunders, Mark Wright, and Peter Shilton.
10. Arsenal -- Hated them for selling us Anelka, but they got back on my good side for selling Overmars and Petit to Barcelona. They would go up to two if they sell us Cesc
11. Blackburn -- no real reasons for 11-15
12. Aston Villa
13. Birmingham City
14. Portsmouth
15. Wigan
16. Reading -- don't like them because they ripped of QPR's shirt. Or maybe it's the other way around, I don't really know but I still don't like them.
17. Middlesborough -- I guess since I like Newcastle I should put them near the bottom (apologies to Coop)
18. Sunderland -- see Middlesborough
19./20. Fulham & Bolton (tie) -- Don't really have a reason but I just can't stand either of them. Would be in favor of them both being relegated.

Yeah, I've always sort of hated Henry deep down so it's fitting that he goes to the club I hate the most. Now it's hate-hate.

Bentley has a good technique, decent skills, but not good enough skills to enable him go past his man. That is a big disadvantage to his game since he isn't the fastest.
Thing about this board is, any player with great crossing ability is overhyped. You see things like "X is $h!t and overrated because he can't cross for shit" whereas to the outside world, an ability to cross the ball is seen as a bonus for a winger or a fullback, it's not a requirement. Qualities such as ability to go past a man are far more important in the modern game, it's a quality every attacking player MUST have.
Oh i should make it clear, am not a fan that starts dissing a player as soon as he leaves my club, i support all of them and wish them all the best( except cashley).
