Martins can't get a starting place in Newcastle team but Smith can.

Yeah right blame other things. There is numerous saints, Gonzales is just another, the list can go on and on where rafa is concerned. Imagine he lasted 20 years, how many would he have?
He wasnt tweedle...when did he play? He played about 6 times and 4 were in midfield.
Other things
So fergie is a genius because he can afford to spend 30 million on rooney
But it is 'blaming other things' because rafa tries to sign simao and alves but liverpool cannot afford them and instead end up with the cheaper alternatives
Good one lrd
rooney 27-30 million
veron 20 plus million
Ruud 18 million
carrick 14-17 million
nani 14-17 million
anderson 14-17 million
hargreaves 17 million
rio 30 million
Rafa's worst signings have been babel ( who it is still probably too early to judge) and morientes (quite cheap and was quality before)
He had to go for quantity in the earlier years so obviously had to compromise on quality because as you have seen from the numbers quoted above quality = a lot more money
for every gonzalez I give you a djemba, kleberson, forlan, tiabi, veron, dong

Obi is not here anymore mate. You would have amazing success with him on that topic
Nonetheless, I don't remember swathes of Liverpool fans saying 'wait and see' when Obi-Wan was hyping him up before he'd even played a game.
Will you not join ranks with lrd and batman saints? Toying with them is way to simple
Nah, because their argument is nonsense, and they both know it. BEnitez hasn't had the time to produce a group of talented youngsters ready for the first team. It took Fergie something like 7 seasons, and took Wenger 9 or 10. Benitez has had 3 1/2. Now, things do move more quickly these days and Benitez has a lot more at his disposal than Fergie had in the late 80s/early 90s, or Wenger had in the late 90s, but nonetheless, it is simply too early to make a judgement on that.
There's a grain of truth to the fact that Benitez has signed a lot of players who haven't worked out and subsequently been sold at a loss, that his turnover of players is high, and this smacks of uncertainty over his transfer policy. Nonetheless, he bought Crouch, and for that he'll always have a place in my heart.

Obispo thought he could be our answer to Ronaldo, and I don't think it was a bad call at the time. Gonzalez never settled or reproduced his form he showed when onloan in Spain. I thought he would have come good in his 2nd season as do many overseas flair players. When on form his pace, trickery and penetration backs up Obi's suggestion.
Agree Gonzalez could have been your answer to Ronaldo. but with a defensive manager in charge, Gonzalez was always going to struggle to find his best form.

Like I say, I don't remember any of your team's fans contradicting Obispo's amusing predictions about Gonzalez. On the other hand, you're right, he did show very promising stuff in Spain which he only replicated a handful of times for Liverpool, so it was clearly an issue of him not settling in right rather than being a Cr@p player.

Just a point of order - the Rooney fee will max at 27 million, and from my figures currently stands at about 24.5 million. This 'Rooney 30 million' thing is an inaccuracy often used by Liverpool fans to try to prove a point about Man U having more money (which they do, of course). If you're going to crunch numbers, try to make them accurate.

Maybe...just maybe he was referring to the match just a week or so ago when Smith started upfront and Martins on the bench. I wouldn't expect you to know that Glenn so no worries.

The price was pretty much irrelevant in my theory anyway. Fergie has been able to afford the very highest quality for years. Rafa is only now able to. This is why his signings have been more risky and more liable to flop. None of us know exact figures anyhow

Not quite COTR. When it was a choice between Smith or Martins because Viduka was injured, he chose Smith. Otherwise Smith has been in midfield so the option wasnt there. When it was he chose Smith over Martins which proves Batman correct. No worries matey

Smith didn't start ahead of Martins, he started ahead of the injured Viduka. Martins can't play in the position Smith was asked to play in, as a 2nd striker. It's a bit like saying Fletcher is better than Tevez because he starts a game ahead of him. I really shouldn't have to explain this to you.

I am sure Newcastle lost numerous games Rossi didn't start, it's irrevelent to the discussion. Just for the record, not once has Fletcher started ahead of Tevez

I think you missed the point glenda.
Rossi didn't play because Martins did and Roeder would not play them together. Martins cost 10 mill Rossi was on loan it wasnt a tough choice between the two.
Smith played ahead of Martins because Owen was the other striker, And Allardyce prefers a big man small man combo.
The comparison by Batman was a good one, you took it out of context as the point escaped you.
