Opposite? That 5'5 lone strikers play well in a hoof up team? Share some examples by all means.

I don't think 5'5 lone strikers play well in a hoof up team. That's what you said, I disagreed with you.

Since you don't think they play well in that situation how can you use that when saying Rossi was $h!t at Newcastle.

Do you think Rossi was good at Newcastle? I stand by my assessment that he was shite.

Nope and I told you why he was shite. Which goes back to my 1st argument that you blithely ignored it to justify a false argument.

You said "a 5'5 dimunitve under the tutelage of Roeder is going to play well as a lone striker in a team that hoof it up" I disagreed. If we both agree he was shite then this portion of the argument can be closed.

#1 in a friendly. Let's see who starts againt Croatia.

Bollocks. Whether he starts on Wednesday or not he is a good player and at £500,000 proof that Rafa is the greatest talent spotter in the world, if not the universe.

I don't dispute that he is a good player, you're the one who chose to use him being England's current #1 as justification which is wrong because he isn't number 1.

Looks like a 1 from where I'm sitting.

Yup and I said come back to me on that in a competitive match where #1 actually means something.

Because this will be the true test of whether Rafa spotting and signing him was a good thing? Starting a competive game for England?

Yup pretty much, every tom dick and harry can be handed a friendly if they play in the pl, or in Nugents case the championship. How they perform long-term for club or country is the true litmus test of Rafe's ability to spot and sign him up.

    What?

The guy who scored 9 in 19 for a relegation club, the guy who is joint top scorer in la liga, yep that guy glenn. If Rossi was a bit stronger then there would have been no need for Tevez indeed.

    COTR wrote:
If SAF wanted then he could have easily signed some young talented foreign kid to replace Richardson and Eagles a long time ago. But that is not SAF style, filling the reserve team with a bunch of foreign kids.
He sold richardson this summer batmobile and he is now replacing him with the new roberto carlos. anyway nani and anderson were the two kids bought during the summer. They have both replaced richardson and ensured eagles will get no football as united's reserves got knocked straight out of the Carling cup. To the best of my knowledge anderson and nani are not english

Who is the new roberto carlos? if it was upto me then Richardson would have been sold two seasons ago, but SAF likes to give british players a chance. SAF knows best because we got £5m for him.

The differene is that Rafa is signing kids to replace the kids already in the reserves. Nani and Anderson have not been signed to replace Richardson and Eagles but instead to replace Giggs and Scholes.

    Nani > Babel

    Rafa signs 20 foreign kids.
to play alongside the double youth cup winning youngsters = more competition = better for liverpool Fc which is all rafa or the fans give a fcuk about

more competition for what? to play a game in reserve league/cup? Rafa has said that the reserve league is a very poor standard

Paying around £500,000 compensation for each player.

which sort of ruins the whole stealing theory Wink

If you steal something then get caught and have to pay a fine, then you are still a thief.

According to the Bat computer, that is almost £10,000,000 Rafa has spent on kids that might or might not be good enough to break into the first team.

so he is speculating to accumulate but Lrd expects immediate results from these 16 year olds. i'm sorry but this is no negative

It is when the owners and most Liverpool fans want immediate success, you still need a good winger imo.

For £10m Liverpool could have signed a player to improve the current first XI instead of the reserve team.

and four years down the line you may be saying something very different about any of the players breaking through

Maybe if your manager was Arsene Wenger.

rafa is thinking about both now and the future. Again.. why is this a negative ?

How many Rafa signings have improved as players during their time at Liverpool? i can't think of many.

Finnan*, Agger, Sissoko, Mascherano and Crouch have improved dramatically under him, plus when fit he seems able to get the best out of Kewell*.

How many Rafa signings have improved as players during their time at Liverpool? i can't think of many.

    You're not trying hard enough.

Finnan*, Agger, Sissoko, Mascherano and Crouch have improved dramatically under him, plus when fit he seems able to get the best out of Kewell*.

    *not a Rafa signing

    + Reina and Arbeloa

I'd never heard of/paid attention to either of them before we signed them so really can't compare. True that Arbeloa has done much better this season, I really didn't rate him at first.
