I bet it was 2-8-0 in the 2nd half.
He barely managed to "tactically outmanoeuvre" Andorra and, couldn't "outwit" Israel, got trounced 3-0 by the worst england side in years and only beat us on a dodgy pitch due to a laughable penalty.
He couldn't beat Italy at the WC despite the advantage of over 30 mins 11 v 10 and would have got knocked out in the 2nd round of '02 if it hadn't been for corrupt officiating.
He also managed to go to WC '98 with one of the best international squads of all time and not win it or even make the final.

And his achievments at PSV, any things other things you want to ridicule.
Just face he is one of the best coaches out there.

I would have taken him for England easily over Mclaren.

At least we had some exciting matches with McLaren.
With Hiddink you'd get failure (like he does with big teams rather than PSV, Oz etc) and tedious football.
We'd probably play something like this:
...............Carson...............
.......Rio.....Terry.....Campbell..
Richards....Harg.....Barry.......Bridge
......Becks.....Lampard.....Gerrard

Biggest clubs in Europe (in no order)
Liverpool, Milan, Ajax, Real Madrid.
They're the big 4, no debate.

Might be on name, but PSV is currently much bigger and currently the no.1 club of the Netherlands. To say it isn't a big club though is ridiculous.

Russia was a young team in transition - not expected to do great things, yet Hiddink kept them there or thereabouts and it took a debatateable penalty to stop him at last World Cup. Certainly got lucky in 2002, but was on receiving end of it in 2006. He is not a bad coach. What was his\ record as Dutch coach. If Abramovich took a hell of a beating then Wellington et al have just taken a universe of a beating. Really should know better than to suffer premature gloating.

russia qualifying had got more to do with england playing utter rubbish in one too many games than hiddink doing anything special...drawing against mazedonia and losing to croatia twice cost us the quali..

You can argue like that for Russia as well.
You cannot say that one team got lucky only because the other team played Cr@p.
Russia also lost some important points in some games. And they dont have "world class" players.

absolutely..i dont think russia got 'lucky'..not at all..they deserve what they got.....but it obviously helps if your main opponents fail miserably...and hiddink has nothing to do with england failure...

This only makes it even worse. Hiddink's Russia choke in Israel, scrape a 1-0 against Andorra,
and yet they are in the Euro's, purely because Mclaren's England were even worse.

So let me get this clear.
Going to the SF finals in the WC with fucking South Korea is not great?
Qualifing with Australia which often was a bridge way too high and then even do very decent at the WC, and getting knocked out by a very very very dodgy penalty.
Reaching the SF with Holland only losing on penalties against Brazil.
Europe Cup 1 win with PSV
Semi final and outplaying Milan with PSV io the semi's.
Qualifing with Russia despite being in a very hard group.
This is all thanks to luck and flucky wins?

The past is the past. I wont even go into the fortune handed out to Hiddink's Korea in 2002, or 4-1 thrashing handed out to his Holland team in 1996 or the 10 or so failures of his teams in direct matches versus English teams, because its the past.
My point is, that right now, having to listen to the Press remarking on what a "genius" he has been in guiding Russia to this year's finals just overlooks the fact that he has been offered a huge slice of luck on the way, not least the fact that Mclaren's England have choked and been a shambles rather more than thanks to Russia's, and Hiddink's "brilliance".
Even against an opponent of such ineptitude, Hiddink is through simply thanks to a dubious penalty decision in Russia. A draw in that game and England would be through, itself a travesty considering how turd we have been

Weren't you the one saying that England having been THAT bad. It's a great achievment when you look how much he has done for Russian football, totally changing the structure of the Russian FA.
The game in Russia though, can't believe that you argue the penalty decision while you had a offside goal allowed.

Point is...you Englanders are forgetting where this Russia is coming from! It's still not a good team...but you can't deny it has been improved!
BTW:
Roman gave the Croatians a nice payment if they would win...
