Would the first be classed as an assist. It sounds like he had no intention of passing the ball.

No way is the second one an assist.

Been poor most of the half, the conditions not great. Rooney missed an easy one on one round the keeper and he chips it into the post. also ronaldo passed one on a plate for him, but he missed the ball and the defender cleared it. Tevez scored after misskicking the ball 3 times lol!

    Still will be 6.

I can only base my comments on Sky Sports live commentary but the second goal sounds like it took a couple of touches off other players (maybe Anderson) before reaching Tevez.

Sunderland are poor. They've come here to do 2 things.

    1) Kick us off the park.
    2) Park the bus.

There's playing defensive and then there's parking the bus. It's been fucking ridiculous at times. I can't remember the last time they entered our half with the ball. Terry & Alex have had it far too easy (for Roy Keane's liking) against Kenwyne Jones.

One thing you notice about Ronaldo when you watch full matches is that's he plays more like a forward than a midfielder. He's got a great strikers instinct even when he's ineffective on the wing. In fact IMO he's not actually that good on the wing in a proper 442, ManU seem to play somthing like this

    ---------------keeper

    ---------------CB--CB
    RB-------------------------------LB
    -------CM-------CM
    --------------------------Giggs
    -----------------Tevez
    -----------Ronaldo
    ------------------------Rooney

With the fullback providing most of the width.
Ronaldo and Giggs do sometimes provide token width but it's most ineffective unless they are in the box.

Rooney's not $h!t, but he's been $h!t in this game so far. Rooney is one of them players (Gerrard, Terry, Lampard...) who gets "star man bonus pts" just for showing up. Others like Cristiano HAVE to earn his points. I have both of them in my team! For all his hype, Rooney's shite, but he gets me them "star man pts". Biggrin <Ale>

Well because its against the rules even if the $h!t refs let it go. This is part of the reasons why English players will not become technically and tactically better. Because not only are they allowed to get away with these tactics, they also actively encouraged to play like this by a media and public obsessed with PGD
