    lol!
this never leads anywhere. for the type of team Real is i think casillas is perfect since it accomdates him the best. im sure chelsea and juve fans can say the same so we can all be happy that we have great keepers.

Glen Johnson, John Terry, John O'Shea > Buffon, Casillas & Cech

1 game, 1 clean sheet for each, so a 100% record between the sticks.

    ok

I agree. Buffon is the best, and for me Casillas is someone who could challenge him.

Just a point for Cesar, being a Toldo fan I was always a bit anti-Cesar, and did not like Mancio's decision to make Toldo second choice. But I stand corrected. Cesar has developed into one of the finest goalkeeper's around, and is as much a matchwinner for us as Ibra or Cambiasso or Zanetti. This guy is one to watch out for the future, tho it will take him 5 more seasons like the last 2 to become a Buffon!!

I guess I have made it clear on this MB many times, that in my view Buffon is the best player on the planet - he is the one from our generation who is most likely to be called the best ever in his position... since I have been watching football (25 years?) the only other players who can argueably contest for that kind of acclaim are Maradona, Maldini and perhaps Ronaldo.

I will never forget Casillas's phenomenal performance against Leverkusen in 2002. That was just brilliant stuff. He is an awesome goalkeeper, who is, in my opinion, the second best in the world.

When talking about unhyped goalkeepers i will have to mention valdes who hasnt made a single mistake this season and has saved barca some times now.he is also getting better and he can now be compared to reina imo and fight for the reserve goalkeeper for spain.

Spain has the best goalkeepers in the world, and Brazil.

What about Frey? He is very good too.

With Palop's injury and Canizares' clown-like keeping this season (before eventually getting kicked out), it would be a disgrace if Valdes isn't in the Euro squad. Provided of course, he doesn't make any mistakes till the season's end.

As for this thread, Buffon of course. One important thing about him is his perfect positioning, which so often means he doesn't even *need* to make the spectacular saves that others do.

What Casillas did in that final should probably go down as one of the best goalkeeping feats of all time. After being on the bench for most of the season due to Cesar's impeccable form, Casillas came in to a CL final with 20 minutes to go. He was not match fit in the slightest and he didn't even get to warm up. Yet somehow he made 3 world class saves in those 20 minutes that gave us the CL trophy. And did I mention the fact that he was only 20 at the time? affraid That was really the game where the legend of Casillas began, the man became a god.

Frey is a brilliant shot stopper and has brilliant reactions from what I have seen. I have not seen enough of him to really talk about his aerial ability.
