No the problem is that our midfield can't pass the ball.

No, the problem is nobody in your attack runs to make space in which they can receive the ball. They stand around waiting for it to come to feet, then try to run past their man. And only someone with exceptional vision like Guti can make passes when nobody is in space. If your attackers ran around a bit more, then you wouldn't need Cesc or Silva and could do just fine with Lass alongside Xabi Alonso.

My vote goes to Cardozo-Saviola...Ronaldo-Higuain have the numbers but Super Madrid's point about their lack of chemistry is spot on.
I think you are certainly right about the movement. With us the good moves that we make are often because of Alonso/Guti forcing it rather then the players moving well for each other.

Talking about strikerpartnerships seems a bit outdated since very few teams actually play with two strikers anymore. And even fewer do it well. Rather we now have attacking groups that have to function together and interchange. For Real Madrid that would be VDV-Marcelo-Ronaldo-Higuain. Manchester United last year with Ronaldo-Tevez-Rooney.

The only top team that plays with two strikers is Inter(Milito-Eto) but even they have found it difficult, especially in Europe, so Eto now plays as a faux winger. Likewise with Chelsea and Drogba-Anelka. Only Liverpool have really profited from moving towards two strikers and I doubt they will persist with that.

    It's trio's these days.

    Nani - Rooney - Valencia

    Pedro- Zlatan - Messi

    Arshavin - RVP - Walcott/someone else

    Malouda - Drogba - Anelka

    Pandev - Milito - Eto'o

    Dinho - Boriello - Pato

Replace Walcott with Cesc. He's virtually a SS.

Well he's not exactly a RF. What do Arsenal play? 4-2-1-3? Cesc would be the 1.

    No-one really knows what the formation is. It's like a 4-4-1-1, 4-5-1, 4-3-3.

Cesc certainly doesn't have to do any defensive work anyway.

Arshavin-RVP-Nasri is the first choice when all are fit, no?

Correct, could be classed as a 4-2-4 as well. With Arsenal, you never really know, that's part of our problem.

I don't think so. The problem isn't the formations but rather what Wenger does with them plus the lack of quality.

It wasn't always like that, i'm not sure what's changed him.

Lack of quality? Our first 11 is more than a match for most Ale

But your first eleven haven't always been fit? Just extrapolate to the whole team what Saints said about "what if RVP was fit" Laughing

The lack of quality in your squad strength. Why so, when you always have super talented young players are coming through?

These are serious questions to be asked! I'm surprised how Arsenal are this patient if they think of themselves to be a "big club". Rolling Eyes

I hope Saints doesn't see this, it'll go into another cliched arguement where everyone goes in circles again.

It's true we can't keep using the 'what if' scenarios, but our injuries are always serious as 'our' bouy Nasri eluded to in the Arsenal thread.

Our squad definitely lacks quality no doubt, but despite what Wenger says i'm still pretty sure the money is not there, this is why there's a lot of Arsenal fans are patient. Add to this they know that without him Arsenal wouldn't be near where they are now.

Take the rough with the smooth I guess Ale

Milito + Eto'o = 40 goals.... but that neither completely represents our attack, nor do the goals capture their complete input.

Our attack also includes Sneijder & one of Balotelli/Pandev. Between the 4 attacking players, they have 61 goals.

Imo Arsenal mainly played 4-2-3-1 this season.
