Is it just me, or does Jol remind you of a big teddy also? You almost want to cuddle him!
Expect his pre- and post-match interviews to be much less annoying than Doll's and Steven's (no challenge really). He can only improve the image of the club this way.

How much of a success does everybody think Jol would be , what would be his area of signings etc?

*snickers* You know, I was reading the chat window a few days ago, when you were busy trying to convince everybody how much we suck and that 7-0 doesn't mean anything and yadda yadda.
Of course, if you want to waste time talking about clubs you don't like (personally I prefer talking about things I like, but that's just me), feel free to......just don't expect me to take you seriously concerning your deadlocked opinions on 'my' club.

Feel free to take seriously or not seriously whatever you want, that's your choice, of course. But funny that you admit to be a lurker. Instead of lurking, you probably should have joined the chat instead, maybe you would have found out that most of those comments were banter with Fey, the token (plastic) HSV fan on here. You probably should not have taken those comments too seriously. Actually, don't take anything seriously that is written in the chat, unless it's about sex.

I must admit I don't think he will win anything in the next couple of seasons, but he might be able to push them on to the CL places. I still can't quite get over the impression from his time at Spurs that he doesn't quite have what it takes to win things. He should get them playing good football though, and he comes across as a decent guy, so HSV should go up in the estimations of neutrals.
Biggest issue with signings is how he replaces Van der Vaart. I would expect him to favour younger players as well. It will be interesting to see if he focuses on signing German players, because he appeared to make quite a big deal of giving young English players a chance when at Spurs.

He made his reputation in Holland by playing attractive and (relatively) successful football on a sue string budget : working with a lot of young talent indeed.
Jol is at his best when he can bring a team from the lower regions to UEFA-cup places, he's no manager to handle superstars or to make big transfers IMO.

Take it from me as a Spurs fan: Jol was a major success at ours, we loved him, he played good football and pushed through a lot of young exciting talents.
He SHOULD be a success at HSV; I'll be very surprised if he isn't

Re: Jol to Hamburg now likely
turns out Jol is VERY pro-German
in fact, it's fair to say, he really IS German
he now claims that ever since Spurs sacked him he had 5 to 6 different job offers
it was the HSV offer he only had to think about for 5 MINUTES
he considers HSV to be the 2nd biggest club in Germany and says he has a special affinity with NORTH Germany
his sister lives near Oldenburg ; his brother was once married to a German lady
Jol is VERY excited
the only problem is that he wants to keep VDV
ah well, all the lad has to do is score 1 goal v Romania and Barca will offer 80 Million Euro for him

I'm not a lurker, I only looked once and that's basically what I saw. Pretty much by accident.
Let me put it like that: I know a couple of Bremen fans, I joke around with them, we occasionally make fun of each other, that's not a problem. At all.
But it's never spiteful and that's important to me.
Don't worry, I'm not sitting here crying, because you are making comments like that about Hamburg. In fact, I pretty much don't care. I just choose to have my views on that (and your way of discussing here in general, as I mentioned before in a different thread) and decided to mention that once. That's it.
And on topic:
I wish, Rafael would just find himself some "European top club" and get over with it.
