I don't know. They probably have. There was lots of interest when he was wowing the premiership with his assuredness as a 17 year old defender, but he ended up getting shunted about a bit by previous managers, got tagged with the 'Mr Versatility' thing, which isn't always great.
He's a much better now than he was 5 years ago and he is getting interest from better clubs. So it goes.
I wasn't saying he'd be an auto-starter for Utd, just saying he would not be at all out of place if, say, he and Carrick were swapped.
He would as he would be a hindrance as he cant set the tempo , cant dictate the pace and cant play the one man defense in an attacking Man Utd team.
Barry could play that role for Utd in my opinion. He is, in my view, a better reader of the game defensively than Carrick. Doesn't have much pace, but then nor does Carrick.. both have good stamina/work ethic to cover the ground.
He sets the tempo for Villa (we like it fast, sometimes switching it up to WARP SPEED
). I already said I think Carrick is better at long passing/possession - that is his strength - but Barry is not weak in these areas, he is still well above average for a Premiership player, and coupled with his better defensive instincts, goalscoring, crossing and set piece ability, I think he'd do fine for Utd, or any of the top 4.
