Doh

I genuinely can't, unless Man U are actually making the losses reported recently and therefore will have to sell just to keep the club afloat, with Ronaldo being their most in demand and valuable player asset. Otherwise they have no reason to sell and Madrid could find another player for half the money they'd be bidding for him - another player who could turn out to be more use to them.

the way i see it is that if a really wants to leave then in the end he prob will. If Real use their old trick of getting the player to demand a transfer then something will be worked out. in todays game players do have the power. the thing is that we dont have Perez anymore to do the business and the idiots that run the club might not be able to convince him to rebel.
either way it would be best for all parts imo if he stayed.

Thats exactly what people said 2 summers ago after the 2006 World cup. If he does leave it will be for some really ridiculous transfer fee. It's hardly like he's unhappy here, things have been blown out of proportion because of one line he said. It was after that at the Man United awards ceremony he was saying how happy he is here.

the problem was back then that he had made a officiel promise to one of the candidates for president and he lost. if i remember correctly he was the candidate who Perez was using behind closed doors. the thing is he didnt win and Calderon said when he won that he rated Ronaldo but that he wanted Cesc,Robben,Kaka. like i said him leaving all depends on his will to leave.if he truly wants to then Real will ask him to rebel. Kaka has made similar comments where he said that he was happy in Milan but if would leave if Real could arrange a fee with Milan but he didnt want to rebel for his move and the deal never happened.

This is true. Only recently (after signing a contract) has Kaka been unequivocal. I want to stay here for life, become capatain etc.

This is the football world we live in. This could all be a negotiation tactic, but didn't Ronaldo just renew?

No Forza, 'he is due to sign soon' is the current state. So it may well be a contract tactic.

I actually heard him say it recently aswell. in the end i think he does want to try something new but he has love for Milan. if the Real deal doesnt happen in the next or two he will prob stay in Milan for the rest of career.

You never know in football, but I don't think Kaka will move now, especially because he hasn't been the player he was in the last few years. Ronaldo is the hot property right now. Tomorrow Messi etc.

For every 1 'Ronaldo is off' thread that is created, dick will make 4 threads telling us he's not. Man Utd fans get annoyed and say that he is staying and everyone else tells dick to keep it all to 1 thread.

I don't expect this to ever change (unless he does actually move of course).

What do you say now, Man. Utd. fans lol!

Ronaldo said: "I am enjoying being here in the Premier League at the moment. It is the best football in the world and I am enjoying the time when I play here. It is fantastic to play in the Premier league.

"Last season, the lads said you can't be like that again — not score 23 goals. Now I have 41.

"Well, next season I don't what I am going to do.

"If I don't score maybe 20 or 30, people may start to criticise me, but I'm ready for that.

"I want to have another good season after the Euros. I want to work hard and I want to do my best every time.

"I'm learning all the time, not just because I've scored 41 goals but because I have played very well.
    Contract

"I think I have more things to learn. I'm playing with the right players in the right club to learn more and more and more and to make me a more experienced player. I want that to carry on.

"I want to work more to win more titles, more awards. This is for me important.

"The Spanish papers say I am unhappy at United because I have not been given a new contract. It's not true — I haven't said that.

"I think it is great just to be playing here in the Premier League and winning things — and then there is the Champions League final.

"Getting there is great. But the final is not just for playing in, it is to win."

Here is the interview in English http://link.brightcove.com/services/...tid=1556197943

While it's not the biggest im staying interview ive ever seen, he clearly says he wants to stay numerous times.

It's really nothing different to what he has said for a long time it's all a bit tiresome. He probably will leave in 3-5 years. But not before that no chance.

There's no diference. Every player continues developing wherever he goes... unless the team is shite or he's past it.

You bought a 17-18 year old. You think you could've made a footballer out of a 17 yr that hadn't been developed to a high level yet?

Well Viana and Quaresma moved same age to Ronaldo and where they are , you just cant take the credit from Man Utd in developing him , yeah he learned his basics at Sporting who got from another club but an 18 year old is nothing just ask Le Taellec and Sinama Pongolle the players of the U17 tournament Ronaldo played.

But I guess the debate here essentially is, how much was down to the player's quality/mentality himself, as opposed to what the club did for him?

Many players who move in their teenage years fail...is that all down to the club, or them?

Many players who move in their teenage years succeed...is that all down to the club, or them?

A bit of both clearly, so N18WNG isn't wrong, but neither is Luso.

Both isnt it , the percentage of failing teenagers are quite more then the succesful ones ,just have to look at academies for that , specially the really succesful ones.

    Luso's initial point is correct

The only reason ronaldo is at united is because of the lure of money and glamour. I'm guessing sporting would have loved to hold on to him for a lot longer than they did

This is the very reason he will soon leave united and join real where he will get even more money and his ego will be even further enhanced

Cristiano Ronaldo has hinted that he will not leave Manchester United while manager Sir Alex Ferguson remains at the club.

Ronaldo starred as United retained their Premier League crown this season and the winger has also helped the Red Devils to Wednesday's UEFA Champions League final against Chelsea, a match which can be seen live on Sky Sports 1.

And that form has led to repeated rumours that Real Madrid are considering a record breaking £100million attempt to lure Ronaldo away from Old Trafford this summer.

Ronaldo recently announced that a career in Spain would appeal in the future, but the Portuguese international has dropped the strongest suggestion yet that he will remain in England until United boss Ferguson decides to retire.

    Best

"The boss is the reason I am here in the club," Ronaldo - who joined United in 2003 in a £12million move from Sporting Lisbon - said in the News of the World.

"He helped me a lot, not just this season but the seasons before.

"I feel very good at the club. I want to carry on like that. I have many friends here in the club.

"I have been at the club five years and I know everyone now - the staff, the players - and I feel like this is my home."

    Prove

Ahead of United's Moscow meeting with Chelsea, it has been suggested that Ronaldo fails to deliver in big games as he has been unable to find the back of the net in nine outings against the Blues.

However, Ronaldo - who was voted the Professional Footballers' Association and the Football Writers' Association Player of the Year - has rubbished the speculation adding: "I am the best.

"I am very happy with my season. I scored 31 league goals. I don't need to show anything to anyone. I won every award. I need to prove nothing.

"When I hear it said that I do not play well against the big teams, it does not annoy me because I know I am the best"
