Roma In Furious Attack On Sir Alex Ferguson

Support striker Davide Petrucci is regarded as one of the best young players of his generation, and has been labelled by some as the “new Francesco Totti”.
However as he was still under age, Petrucci had not signed a professional contract with Roma, and Manchester United nipped in to poach the 16-year-old prodigy for a miserly £200,000, offering him £95,000 per year, plus all expenses paid for him to fly home to Italy on a regular basis.
This transfer has infuriated the Calcio community, who have ganged up on Man Utd for stealing the youngster off Roma.
Giallorossi technical director has now launched a ferocious attack on Sir Alex Ferguson, accusing him of double standards, following the manager’s criticism of Real Madrid’s methods in trying to sign Cristiano Ronaldo.
“They complain about Ronaldo and then did the same thing with David,” an absolutely seething Conti told the Gazzetta dello Sport.
“His father Stefano has disappointed me. I will not be told any more lies. As for the boy, I wish him all the best in the world.”
English clubs have long been criticised by foreign clubs for stealing under-age players, many of these coming from Italy.
Reggina’s 15-year-old prospect Vincenzo Camilleri was snapped up by Chelsea in February, Atalanta’s teenage talent Fabio Zamblera by Newcastle Utd, while a few years back Parma-duo Giuseppe Rossi and Arturo Lupoli were signed by Man Utd and Arsenal respectively.
This led Palermo’s outspoken President Maurizio Zamparini to famously brand English team’s as “pirates”.
Being hypocrites is what Manu are best at
No other club in the world can match that high level of hypocricy.

Real waiting for TRW signal
The Red Whizz (Ronaldo) is currently concentrating on Portugal's Euro 2008 bid
Real Madrid have confirmed they are waiting for Manchester United winger Cristiano Ronaldo (The Red Whizz) to reveal his intentions over where his future lies.
The Premier League champions want to keep the Portugal captain, whose contract at Old Trafford runs to 2012.
But the 23-year-old will not decide on his future until after Euro 2008.
"As soon as he says he wants to play for Real Madrid, there will be conversations," Madrid official Miguel Angel Arroyo told newspaper Marca.
Arroyo, who is Madrid's director general of the presidency, continued: "We would willingly reach an agreement with Manchester United if it is possible, if they want to sell and if the price was affordable." 606: DEBATE
What do you think of the Ronaldo saga?
Madrid coach Bernd Schuster added on Cope radio station: "We are left hanging on a little because of what is happening in the European Championships.
"At the moment, there is a lot of speculation, but that is normal."
Ronaldo insists he will not talk about where his future lies until Portugal's involvement in Euro 2008 is over.
Portugal face Germany in the tournament's first quarter-final on Thursday.
Manchester United have already reported Real Madrid to world governing body Fifa over their public courtship of Ronaldo, although the organisation decided to take no formal action.

Come on, they're basically telling Ronaldo to push for the move. I don't know if it is illegal as the rules are obviously quite vague, as i understand Real aren't allowed to approach Ronaldo behind closed doors, but they ARE allowed to approach him through the media like this. Which seems odd to me.
This seems like the way business is done on the continent. AC Milan are going public about wanting Adebayour, fair enough if Arsenal are looking to sell, but they're not. It all seems pretty under hand.

I think Fifa said last week that Real has done nothing illegal because the rules are that if you just tell the club you are will be having talks with the player then its ok. in the end clubs talk with players they want all the time the difference this time is not that Real breaks the law but that it hits front page and isnt kept somewhat secret.

Cristiano Ronaldo has delivered Manchester United a huge boost by declaring a move to Real Madrid is no longer in his thoughts.
Real Madrid made huge efforts to sign Ronaldo last summer and the player himself refused to rule out the move, admitting his dream was to one day move to Spain.
Sir Alex Ferguson stood firm and made sure Ronaldo did not leave United, and he has once again helped the club to the brink of another Premier League title.
However, the rumours of a Real move for the World Player of the Year have refused to go away, with former Madrid president Ramon Calderon intimating a deal was already in place for this summer.
But now Ronaldo has come out and stressed that he is no longer thinking about a 'dream' move to the Santiago Bernabeu.
"I'm no longer thinking of Madrid. That dream is dead," he told The People.
"The only thing I dream about now is Manchester United and winning the Champions League again in Rome."
Ronaldo has three years left on his current deal after he penned a five-year deal in 2007.

You see sometimes you can get something positive from a negative result. This is great news for Real Madrid and perhaps even better for Man Utd.

Ribery the dude who cant win the league with Bayern
Of course it probably would put Ronaldo off. If he knows no matter what he does he's got a shitty defence behind him then how is he going to get anywhere in the cl.

Well as I said in the MU thread, a key factor has changed, which is that the potential new Madrid president Perez doesn't seem to want him.
On the other hand, Ferguson may decide he's tired of the sneaky hints and gets rid of him at a lower price than 75m euros or whatever, and brings Ribery in.

Fergle already has the biggest, most expensive squad in the division, he might be able to strengthen the squad further but the team will be weakened. £80m is less than he spent on Anderson, Berbatov, Hargreaves and Nani. I'm happy.
