It's a good thing for French football that these three teams have qualified again for C.L, both Bordeaux and Marseille need more experience. Lyon will surely strengthen up this summer while Bordeaux and Marseille are likely to keep all their best players for once, so things are looking good.

We jsut bought Gomis from St Etienne for 15m, too expensive but a good player who regularly scores 10+ goal a season and who's young (23). He scored a goal every 2 games for all his games he played for France (4g) or in Europe (Cool so he could do well.

Yes, 3 is probably needed, but buying all 3 in the same summer, for big money, esp. when all would expect to be starters! And what about that Bastos guy, isn't he an attacking player too?

Laste year we never replaced Fred and that's buy we were sht offensively because we only had Benzema. I still hope we get Guiza because he said he wanted to leave Fenerb... Bastos is an offensive midfield player a bit like Juninho, capable of scoring over 10 goals. With Puel in charge, we are likely to play 4-4-2-1, a quite defensive approach so maybe buying another striker is not necessary for them. But it would be good for rotation if you get another quality finisher because after Lopez there is Gomis and after a young 18 years (Tafer) and a goat (Piquione).

How strating XXI is likely to be like that:

    Lloris-Reveillere-Boumsong-Cris- Cissokho- Toulalan-Makoun- Ederson- Kallstrom-Bastos- Lisandro

Bench: Pjanic, Grosso, Bodmer, Tafer, Gomis, Clerc, Mensah, Govou, Piquione.

We should win the ligue with a bench like that. Only Marseille will be v dangerous.

Have to say, been very impressed with the transfers of the top three sides in Ligue 1. Brought in a lot of quality without losing too much, only Benzema is the only notable departure.

Will be a good three horse race imo.

Yes, there will. I hope. The big 4 (with P.S.G) managed for once to keep their best players and at the same reinforce their teams by buying some good players so it's looking good for them.

All these years was the opposite, with young players or the best three players leaving for better leagues. Gourcuff, Bastos, Niang, Sessegon who were the 4 best players last year all stayed in France and only Benzema left for us but we bought 3 good players.

I just wishe we could sack Puel he is not good enough.

Heinze just signed for Marseille. I am confident he can do well, because the ligue1 is less competitive and pressurize than the Liga. All the players D.D wanted he now has, he has doubled all the areas and has now two competitive teams.

I don't know if the death of Louis Deyfrus has to do with that, but the club this year changed its policy towards big spending.

After all these years without trophies Marseille seems to be back at the highest level.

Lyon and PSG could only draw so it's Marseille with the early lead as they won quite comfortably, 2-0.

Looks like Marseille have built quite a good squad...so many names that are recognisable: Niang, Lucho, Cheyrou, Taiwo, Mandanda, Ben Arfa, Brandao, Valbuena, Bakary Kone, Morientes, Heinze, Diawara, etc.

How come Lucho didn't play yesterday - injured? Or not match fit yet?

Lucho is injured for 4-6 weeks I think. Yes, Marseille have indeed a good team, certainly the best on in the ligue. With Lucho in the team they will have more option and will be better offensively. Watched both Lyon and Marseille games and the latter was much better in terms of intensity. Marseille reallu impressed me. We were not terrible at all, we can only improve.

I think the most exciting part about Marseille and Bordeaux's improvement is that they can really become tough teams in the CL as well. Makes a break from just Lyon all the time.

He was a good keeper a few years ago, but now he's 35. So it's a good thing for him to go to Milan and I am sure he will be a good sub when ever you need him. He might be shy at first because he'll be used to play in front 5000 people at Monaco, 50 000 will be a lot for him. I remember a few years ago he had some contacts with big Italian teams but nothing happened. He was at his top in 2003-2005 when Monaco did well in Europe. Last year he only played four games because there's a new keeper at Monaco who's young & quite good.
