John Terry believes Fabio Capello has got the "Mourinho" factor that will get England performing in big games and then take them to the World Cup.
England captain Terry twice lifted the Barclays Premier League title under Jose Mourinho with Chelsea and he wants success wearing the armband for his country.
Croatia denied them qualification to Euro 2008 but Terry has the opportunity for revenge when they return to the Maksimir Stadium to face Slaven Bilic's men in a clash that could define their campaign to reach the 2010 World Cup.
With Steve McClaren in charge, England also buckled against Russia in their last campaign but Terry is confident Capello is a coach that rises to the occasion.
"The manager has that aura about him," the centre-back said. "He's like Mourinho a little bit.
"He's got that real confidence and slight arrogance about him that all top managers have.
"Our manager has that and it does rub off on the players."
It was Capello who helped negotiate playing England's toughest away trip of the campaign in their second game.
"The manager has that confidence to come back here so early and really take it to them," Terry said.
"The way he carries himself around, he knows what he's achieved in the game. They know that, sooner or later, that'll happen again."
One of the attributes apparent with Mourinho was the ability to quickly see when things were going wrong and making subsequent changes - even if it meant an early substitution.
Terry, who sees the same quality in Capello, said: "I certainly think that, if there's a change to be made after five or 10 minutes, he'll make that.
"That's the confidence he's got in himself to make the big decisions. You'll see that in the bigger games. Maybe after 20 or 30 minutes, he'll change it on the pitch immediately.
"That's where the big managers excel."
Terry believes the result will be a draw or win in Zagreb if England perform how they want to, even though they have struggled in big games recently.
"It's been the last two or three years," he said. "I suppose you could say it's not encouraging, but I'd say the fans should stay with us.
"We have got the players and it's so frustrating sitting here, saying the same thing for the second year. We have to win back the fans and everybody's confidence in the England team.
"This is the key game, I understand that. But, whether we win or not, it's not going to decide who qualifies. I think we can come here, walk away with a draw and be very happy."
Terry was part of a three-man defence when Croatia beat them in Zagreb two years ago, and he is confident there will not be a repeat.
"Deep down I really believe we are different," he said.
"We're not going to play three at the back again. I think we'll be a lot more solid, and we know a draw would be a good result for us. But, at the same time, we're coming here to win the game."
Terry it seems has bought into Capello either way you look at this he likes to follow and is a trencher a player you can rely on, it must get right up some peoples nostrils
