If Wise ends up going, I would highly suggest they look into hiring Pedja Mijatovic as the next Sporting Director.

Considering it's newcastle, it wouldn't surprise me if Ashley pays a world record fee to Real, and present him by flying him all the way down to st James with a chopper. Presumably to impress their fan base.

Re: Next Newcastle Manager
There are lots of suggestions that, as well as having a decisive say on incoming and outgoing transfers, Dennis Wise also has a key role in all contract negotiations within the club. Given that he seems to have been given so many vital roles, and given that Ashley seems so keen to surround himself with primarily London-based cronies and sycophants, I think there may be something to the accusation that Wise was brought into the club in January as manager-in-waiting. The extent of the movement on Poyet in the betting market on Tuesday makes me think that, realising it might be difficult to appoint Wise, we pondered bringing in Poyet as a puppet manager.
To appoint Wise or Poyet would be to essentially sign a death wish - perhaps even literally - I think there could be violent scenes at the next home match anyway, and Ashley certainly won't be able to sit with the fans again - but I think if Wise was appointed our manager, some fan may well attack him in his first game in charge.
So who knows who the club will go for. The issue is that I can't see any high profile manager taking the job; Shearer certainly won't take it at the moment; and besides, I will have no respect for whoever accepts the job anyway.

Did you mean, what it means to be a coward, demonstrated by Alan Shearer?
Being a coward may explain his constant refusal to take a job and prove he's anything. The man you mentioned had no such problems

Re: Next Newcastle Manager
Shearer is stiff (scared perhaps?), but we live in a world where sanity would rather be called sissy. Keane's a psycho, better avoid him than break your ankles or leg, and basically f-up the career. You need to be another nutter like vieira to take on him.

what would you have done Leonard? Popped a cap in his ass?
Please, tell us all what you would have done in Shearer's position.

Re: Next Newcastle Manager
Shearer is biding his time, reflecting on the game just as all intelligent men must reflect on things - and when he's ready to move into football management, he won't wander aimlessly down the alley that is Sunderland; he won't squander £80 million plus (that's how much Keane has spent, net, at Sunderland! £80 million!) of a club's money in creating a bog standard football team.

Well i wouldn't want to make you happy in anyway.
But im pretty sure i know what you would have done hysen, the tear stained letters to the authorities would have come after the pleading to the ref and Keane himself im sure.

Not sure what part of Shearer's reaction can be described as cowardly however.
