All three are overrated. They haven't achieved anything at international level. Yea, Kaka has a world cup medal, but he wasn't an important player on the Brazil team at that time just a sub.

Whilst i understand your point, i don't believe International performances are the bench mark, particularly now... when club football is played at a higher level IMO.
For example, was George Best not a fabulous footballer because he never had the opportunity to win an international competition? now i recognise the above 3 players represent countries with an opportunity to win an international trophy, my point is it shouldn't be the ultimate decisive factor, and of course for all three there is still ample time to do that in any case.
I would put a player who is the stand out or integral cog to a team winning the Champions League aswell as winning one of the recognised top leagues (i personally feel consistancy is the key characteristic of a top player, as well as delivering in the most important games) as good a measure as a player driving his national team to success.
I believe Messi is better positioned than the other two to deliver national success much in the way Maradona did in the 80's, this of course is my opinion, and i base this simply on the fact he plays in those big games like he was born to be there and in these games hes shown a level of performance which at times has put him head and shoulders above the other players on the pitch again much like Maradona. Ronaldo's personality often lets him down when things don't go right as he looks around at his team mates for excuses because of his own arrogance http://guillembalague.com/interview_desp.php?id=10
Kaka is a gracious footballer, possibly the closest equisite footballer since Zidane left the stage... and for me has nothing to prove, apart from to continue performing at the remarkable heights hes set himself. I do however believe he could benefit by playing football for a team with a natural attacking philosphy, which for me would mean leaving Italy for a club who are equal in stature (we all know who those clubs might be) - what i like about Kaka is that he has always let his football do the talking, and perhaps why although revered and highly respected, has never carried media controversy that emphasises how fickle the footballing community can be outside those who operate actively within the game.
IMO, not over the last year neccessarily however overall
- Kaka quite simply for me is the more complete footballer of the 3, certainly with the better overall technique, and has won so much with Milan already to prove hes not just a one season wonder, and can be the central catalyst for a great club, his performance in the first half against us (Liverpool) in 2005 was quite incredible.
- Messi is the most attractive, and can become a cult figure in the history of football due to his likeable nature and unbelievable ability to win games single handedly against any opposition, he is the one i can see on a global stage such as the world cup annilating an established opposition.
- Ronaldo is the most effective, and has an incredible combination of physical attributes and winning mentality (hammered into him by SAF) - what he fails to recognise is there have been a wealth of incredible footballers, becoming an inconic figure isn't just built on success and ability, an element of humility warms people to the individual, if he is as good as he'd like to believe then he doesn't need to blow his own trumpet we will all see that for ourselves, my advice would be let the football do the talking Ronaldo... and the pundits the hyping, fans loved to be entertained, this he can certainly do... but don't tell us we are being entertained just show us!

Milan has a attacking philosphy, Kaka doesn't need to go anywhere.
For me it's clear who is the best (speed, can use both legs, dribble, shot)

People have been accusing Ronaldo of being a big game choker but not Messi. Maybe Messi should be equally accusable.

Re: Messi V Ronaldo V Kaka
So playing an English team is automatically considered a "big game"?
But anyway, I think this "big game choker" argument is mostly nonsense, esp. for the 3 this thread is about. They've all played well in various big games for their club or international teams, and even though they didn't score the winning goal or whatever, they had a big influence on the game and had a generally good performance most of the time. Messi has been doing it since his first season or two, Kaka is older so has more experience , and Ronaldo especially showed this last season, if only sporadically before. With age and experience, even he will keep doing it more consistently.
I don't understand what people who use this "big game choker" argument really expect - not every player can score a hattrick in every final his team plays in.

1. What's Messi's age?
2. And everytime he played PL teams, the opposition (all 3 - chelsea, liverpool, and man utd) marked with 2 defenders around him. His last game in old traford comes to mind. He got fouled around, but he still impressed against a bolton-like team which played and got the result that night. And, he was good against Chelsea. PL fans got short memory.
3. Cristiano is the main finisher for man utd (he played the main striker for the whole game in nou camp). He SHOULD be getting the goals. Messi created chances for Farca, but Ego'o couldn't score, and didn't look like scoring too.

Messi scored a hattrick in El Clasico.
Game's dont come much bigger than that, the conte was simply amazing that night.
Its mostly injuries that have ruled him out of playing the big games i.e. final stages of Barca's CL win.

Re: Messi V Ronaldo V Kaka
Well Messi played one game against Chelsea at the age of 18 and played very well. In the 2nd game, he went off injured.
I think he has played one game against Liverpool, and Arbeloa done a job on him. Worth noting however that it was Messi's very first game in three months, and was rushed back to help pickup a result for Barca.
Which leaves the Utd games. He played well enough, and was one of the best players on the pitch for me (and many others) in a Barca side that were horribly out of form.
I agree with Football Genius anyway. I think Kaka is currently the most complete of the three.
Ronaldo needs to start dominating games, rather than popping up and scoring a goal after being a non-factor. He also needs to sort out his attitude, and cut out the diving/whining.
Messi needs to complete a season injury free, and lead Barca to some silverware.

Worse than Messi's rolling around in his 1st game against Chelsea whilst looking at the ref, waiting for him to produce his red card?

Maybe we should try to identify the top ten and then just get people to put them in order like we've done with some of the off topic polls.
And no more than one player per team to make it all fair
Just for a bit of fun.
My nominations would be Messi, Kaka, Ronaldo, Drogba, Torres, Villa, Ramos, Ibrah, Cesc and Robinho
