Imo Messi and kaká are better to watch than Ronaldo, but Ronaldo has been so effective and consistent over the past two seasons that he can be considered the best player in the world right now. Also United won two EPL and the UCL while Milan couldn't even qualify for the UCL last season and Barça had their second straight trophyless season. Ronaldo deserves it more than anyone.
It's too early to tell who will be regarded to have been the best player of the three. It will be down to consistency and performances at the WC. I don't think that Zidane ever had two brilliant seasons at club level like Ronaldinho had between 2004-2006 and even Ronaldo between 96-98. However, ZZ was much more consistent than both, he played really well between 96-2004 and shone at the WC and Euro. Ronaldo and Ronaldinho faded so early that it's not even a contest.
Kaká has the edge over Ronaldo and Messi because he has been playing very well since 2002 and won a lot of silverware. He is so driven and professional that I can't see him having a dip in form like Ronaldo and Ronaldinho had.
Both Messi and Ronaldo are young and they can change that though. It will be interesting to see if Ronaldo will keep his form for the third straight season and how Messi will deal with the pressure of being Barcelona's main player now that Dinho is gone.
