i agree with you that they were better players back then, which is one of the reason why i think people over hype zidane. he was never the best player in midfielder in serie a are best Juve player not even the best player in the league.

    Veron
    Del Piero
    Ronaldo
    Respectively

    Same thing in la liga

i get the feeling the Dinho is consistently more brilliant that Zidane ad if he hasn't score those 3 goals he would be remember who is he today.

All of zidane greatness has come from month long Knock our Comps. but in the leagues never really did it for me and though those KO comp are great I think you consistency in a league format is much more Important

DesChamps and Henry were better than him is the WC and Euros has well.

but i'm not trying to change anyones mind this is just what i think

Laugh at the very least they are equal

Zidane was better than Veron, Del Piero is a different player and less influential on a game, also was no where near as good after his injury, was even debatable to his status as WC after that. Zidane can control a game to a much greater degree than Ronaldinho (who I think is still the best player in the world at the moment).

Ronaldinho just does his thing in a more flashy way than Zidane did. I'm not saying Zidane didn't do his little tricks either (that RM v Utd game comes ot mind Sad ), just Ronaldinho is more obvious with it.

you obviously didn't watch much Serie a because every one that did that i know off has said veron was the better Midfield that why he was Voted so two times in a row while Zidane was their and Rui Costa was better has well.

del Perio was better than Zidane before his injury

lets no turn this in another Player Vs Player debate.

This is a player vs player debate, and Zidane proved to be the better player in comparison to Veron and Del Piero (though his injury did wreck him) in the long run.

No, didn't watch many live games of Seria A (except for what was shown on Channel 4 Sunday lunchtimes and their highlights programme with the bald dude), mainly saw them in champ league and internationals.

Gerrard is more suited to Liverpool's style of play (hoofball + lots of energy) so I can see what OP is saying.

i think people like the idea of kaka being better than ronaldinho...

the reality however is very different...

similar to teamspirit's idea that terry is an average defender because he doesn't meet his chosen requirements for a centre back... with again the reality being very different...
But I'm not the only believer in the protection, am I?

Obi believes it, as does Kimbo.

Parky (to a certain extent) believes it. So do Tweedle, Brian, 110%.

He's performances for England have improved with the introduction of Hargreaves into the team. Coincidence? Definelty! scratch

Hmm don't know TS. I still think Terry really helped Gallas out at times, with excellent cover work when Gallas wanders out of position. (likewise, he does the same to Ferreira and Carvalho too)

The only major mistake(s) he made at the world cup were 2 mis-timed jumps (1 v Ecuador, 1 v Sweden)

But that's the way Chelsea are set-up defensively . I honestly don't think he does anything extra special. Gallas & Carvalho when paired with Terry, always play higher up. Terry sits deepest of the lot. You call it excellent cover work, I call it standard defending. I rarely see teams being caught offside vs. Chelsea due to this.

Ferreira is just, well... He'd be Tottenham's 4th Choice Right-Back IMHO.

It's the way we always played. When we had Lebouef-Desailly, they always used to sit back. I personally don't like this idea of trying to play offside (if it doesn't come off you're f*cked!)

I'm not just talking about the sitting back either. I'm talking about when the likes of Gallas & Carvalho (although to a lesser extent Carvalho) drift too far high or too far wide.
