I bet Benitez feels like a real idiot now...he's achieved what few have done in I don't know how long - made Old Trafford loud. The crowd and Man. Utd. players were *really* fired up today, 90th minute and they're still attacking the Chelsea goal.

Ok, Benitez has made the public more aware (as if most didn't know already) about Ferguson's subtle mind games over the years, and Man. Utd. players' contempt for the respect campaign, but the timing of his outburst was wrong, and the dramatic tone - factsheet and all - was way over the top.

Ferguson 1-0 Rafa indeed.

I don't think Rafa will feel like an idiot. What he has said will impact on United's whole season, it's not just about today's game.

Match of The Day tonight will be all about Rooney respecting the ref and the bookings United players should have received.

It will be like this for every United game now, and it cannot help them.

They could easily do the opposite. Ronaldo was penalised and booked for Carvalho manhandling him in play and then after he escaped giving away probably a penalty and instead somehow got a free kick, he again decided to grab Ronaldo to make it seem like he dived, and then Ronaldo was strangely booked. Not to mention the dissalowed goals.

This season nobody has really seemed up for it after winning everything last year. From the fans to certain players. But stuff like this can get people more into and up for it..for sure. :biggrin>

Will it matter if they go out every game with something to prove and brush opponents aside, while the Liverpool players try to cope with the sudden extra attention on the ref at their own matches, added to Benitez's already strange starting lineups?

I don't think Rafa's comments had any effect this weekend - Liverpool got the same result at Stoke that United would have had if ronaldo had been correctly sent off and last year's Derby side would have won by a couple against Chelsea today.

I dont think anyone needed to read about Ferguson calling him disturbed when it was on the TV for us all to watch. Not that he looked riled..he looked like a hobo who couldnt think of any words.

I watched Fergie's interview yesterday on Setanta. He tried to be cool about it, but Rafa has ruffled his feathers. It's all over the papers today, the "disturbed" comment. This race will be good.

Watched it on Setanta yesterday. Of course he wants to come across as being cool, but the Scot was boiling inside. Rafa's very calculating though, he's gone after that Manc Gill dude from the FA. Gloves have come off now.

It could be good, then again we could win our two games in hand plus beat Liverpool at Old Trafford whilst they drop points against Chelsea as well.

Gill is one of 8 representatives of the Premier League at the FA other notable representatives are Phil Gartside (Bolton) and Keith Lamb (Middlesbrough) I don’t think he has any influence when it comes to the FA making disciplinary actions against Manchester United. Rafa Benitez insists he has no regrets over comments he made about Manchester United boss Alex Ferguson during his weekly press conference on Friday.
The Spaniard was speaking after Liverpool's goalless draw with Stoke, a result which keeps his side top of the Barclays Premier League.

Benitez said: "If Mr Ferguson would stop talking about Liverpool maybe it would be good. He is clearly nervous about Liverpool.

"I can tell you that a lot of people have sent a lot of messages - not to me but to my staff and a lot of people at the club - to say, 'At least one person has said something everybody wanted to say.'

"Maybe because in 20 years nobody could say these things and maybe a lot of people were thinking the same but didn't want to say.

"I have known Mr Ferguson for five years now and I think it's too early to be playing mind games. He has to think about his own team.

"I have a lot of respect for him. He is a great manager but he was talking too much about Liverpool, so clearly he has to stop.

"My concern now is to prepare the team for the next game against Everton and that's it. I always say we take things one game at a time - that is my philosophy and my idea."
