I guess Rafa agreed with me and my fellow redbloods that signing Keane for £20m was a mistake.

Is selling Keane a mistake? Keanefailot6

But has Rafa made a bigger mistake in selling Keane and not replacing him?

Is selling Keane a mistake? 7832 VS Is selling Keane a mistake? 11189

    2008/09:

    Keane
    Apps - 23 (5)
    Goals - 7
    Assists - 5

    Kuyt
    Apps - 30 (2)
    Goals - 7
    Assists - 5

Most people would agree that Keane had yet to show his best form for Liverpool, probably because he never got any Rafa love.

It wont make a difference. With Keane he did nothing. Without him they have some other idiot who will be equally as crap.

The answer is only yes if Torres sustains an injury at a key point in the season.

He didn't fit into Rafa's system, simple as that.

Hes a quality player, just one we couldn't find a home for in the first team.

My only issue with the current team is that there is no plan B, we can, however won't (particularly now without Keane) Revert to a 4-4-2 + having lost Crouch in the summer.

So if the magical Gerrard + Torres doesn't pay dividends then basically we up the creek without a paddle. We definately need to invest in a plan B in the summer.

Buying him was a mistake. Selling him will at least end the constant shite in the press.

Maybe we'll get someone on loan, maybe we wont.

If Torres can stay fit then we will finish in the top 3 which is still the realistic aim.

Rafael Benitez reckons Liverpool got Robbie Keane on the cheap when they signed him from Tottenham.

When asked what Benitez thought of the comments made by Ferguson about Keane, he replied: “I think he was surprised about the price because he was cheap.”

“They paid around £30m for Berbatov, Rooney or Ferdinand . That is maybe where the surprise came from,” he told the offish site.

Fergie's mind games created this whole affair. That's why Benitez made his loony rant! Cheap says Rafa CHEAP!

It is slightly strange to weaken a position mid-season without replacing. Keane was the 2nd best striker they had. But as long as Torres is fit it shouldn't make too much difference - he would be starting ahead of Keane anyway. It does give them slightly less slack to rotate Torres in games against smaller PL teams.

mistake was signing him in the first place. I'm amazed we got as much for him as we did.

Long term this is the best thing for the club. My only concern is that he hasn't replaced him but maybe this means some of our young players will get a chance.

It's not beyond the bounds of realistic expectation that we have infact signed someone, but it's delayed due to weather conditions so we'll see.

But no, selling Keane was a master stroke.

You kept reminding me that you were top of the league. A person would only get this cocky if he thought they could win the league.

I swear, Liverpool fans are becoming as bad as Arsenal fans in believing everything their manager touches will turn to gold.
