Certainly agree that it has improved with Guardiola and in the end there is only so much you can do on set pieces if you have several small players.kas wrote:I'm only happy because it's better than nothing. Rijkaard never focused on setpieces, but Guardiola has, and we've scored at least 3 or 4 goals due to that this season.

Was out of town for several days attending a funeral. Missed the Madrid-Barça completely, saw the score and was absolutely sick but fair play you lot - in spite of being a bunch of contes, you are deserving champions. Congratulations
Hope you get bitch slapped by Chelsea!

you don't think Marca bring out a DVD with the game at the end of the season so you can view it?

What to say eh?
Those last minute heartbreaks of the 2007 league campaign, that wrong decision we suffered against Chelsea, and now, an amazing moment that only happens in football.
We may have been terrible tonight but I think on the balance of 180 mins it's not "lucky" to go through. Last year's team, for example, would have succumbed long ago in the tie.
Ratings:
Valdes = 8
Alves = 1
Toure = 7
Pique = 7 (only the handball let him down)
Abidal = 5
Busquets = 7
Keita = 5
Xavi = 6
Messi = 5
Iniesta = 5
Etoo = 4

Look at Iniesta's face as he sits down. He's just in disbelief.
btw, did he get a yellow for taking his shirt off? Not that it matters much anyway.

I am quite disgraced that we went through the way we did. We didn't deserve it. It's a strange feeling, an anticlimax, as I anticipated we would play them apart, and we were left thanking this disgraceful ref.

I did say before that I hope the ref doesn't come into it, and yes, it's a strange feeling. But hardly anti-climactic
I think it's just that for 81 minutes we were all mentally down and had given up on ever beating an English Big 4 side. It'll take some time to sink in. Once we consider the full 180 mins though, I don't think it's such a disgrace that we went through.

I don't think we were so bad.
People are continually forgetting that one of the best teams in Europe parked the bus. AGAIN. In their own ground!
That's 10 men infront of the keeper most of the time.
That's fucking unbreakable, unless u have a shot like Essien's, which is one in a million, then ok. But, if that doesn't happen it's practically unthinkable to break up that sort of defence.
What i wanted to see from Chelsea, at least this game, was a little bit more open play, so we can see who's better in playing football. But that never came. Guss knew that we will rape them if they open up. And that's why i don't give a shit if they had 1,2,3,4, 100 penalties not given. They simply didn't went for a win in this game.
If RM loses this weekend, then we have 3 finals to play in 3 weeks. What an achievement.

I am still full of the frustration from the game, I just need to get this out of my system. apologies to the other barca fans.
I hope we win the league not this weekend but the weekend after, because otherwise the celebrations might disturb the cup final.

Bayern and Lyon are awful teams and neither look likely to even win their weak domestic league this year. I didn't even realise he got an assist today but if so that doesn't mark over 180 minutes of practically nothing. He is obviously a great player but he is not the Messiah yet and has many flaws. Great dribbler but against the beat teams you don't get to do what you like or get 4 chances to score like he did against Madrid. Still not quite WPOTY.

There are some Barca players you can give great credit to for their performances over the 2 legs. Messi is not one of them imo. Anyway well done guys

You shouldn't have to justify him with stats. His "bad" performance today is way overblown. He pulled a lot of players out of position but there wasn't enough movement from the team for him to make the pass. The problem is players like Xavi and Iniseta only want passes to their feet. Its good when you have a lot of space but when you need to play expansive, you need players who can run onto the ball. Even Henry would not have done much more, its the FBs that needed to provide the runs and a genuine (crossing) threat. Even if you can't score the headers, defenders can make mistakes and therefore would prefer to cut the crosses out early. This would have meant leaving Messi for a bit for tracking Alves. Alves, like last week, was the big flop. Its a blessing he's out.Messiah wrote:Messi

You can't attack the way he like to attack vs ManU and he cant defend. Only problem is you have so few defenders. How about playing Caceres in the last league games to see how he does?

him being the best player on a team thats in the
copa final
CL final

Nice. Those things do make him the second best player in the world. The fact he was missing against a well organized english team again.....shows maybe he'd struggle in a league where the defences are not a total joke and where he can buy a free kick whenever and wherever he chooses.
You can overlook what you like but every Barca fan expected more from Messi in the past two games v Chelsea...it's just two games but you don't get many games against the best sides in the world especially now la liga has become very weak. Eto'o probably has equally good stats or somewhere near, but he's been even worse.
Anyway great player just not the best.
Deal with that son

Just like those saying "Messi has no goals in 10 games against English teams so he must be shit" is not true, it's also not justified to back up his underwhelming performances against Chelsea by saying he got an assist.
There can be no doubt he's a genius, but it's also clear that he has to add new aspects to his game in order to cope with tough blanket defenses like Chelsea applied in this tie. Ronaldo successfully changed his game and added new things to adapt to England, so I'm confident Messi will do the same for the Champions League.

So this year's slogan is "Toma, toma, toma...nos vamos a Roma"
Appropriate for last night, but not as good as "Sí, Sí, Sí...nos vamos a Paris"
