No I don't think it's strange because he'd have one game where he'd score and play quite well, then one game where he went completely missing.

Re: PFA Player of the Year Nominees
I actually found Glenn's description of Robinho as part-time World Class very accurate. I really hope he finds more consistency because he's much more entertaining to watch than CR7, and that finish against Arsenal is not one you see very often.

TBH i think he has been unfairly criticised and the media have made ti seem that he has been more inconsitent than he has. For a start it hasnt helped that our away form has been shit as a team which has made it harder for him. Yet he has still pulled out some decent away performances only for the media to say he was shitwhen the team loses. Yes he has had some off games aginst Bolton, Portsmouth and Stoke. but in some games ive seen him play pretty well only for the media to say he did nothing. Then in other games he has played just as well but scored and the media are cracking one off over him.
How many times have you heard it mentioned that Fabregas or Ash Young hadnt scored in 2009 up until they scored this weekend ? hardly at all but fucking hell it was mentioned every week about Robinho. Plus he has had a rape charge hanging over his head, since it was dropped he has been bak to his sensational best.
I remember against someone like Aalborg or Copenhagen he hit the post twice and set up a goal or two and played really well but the papers still just highlighted the fact he had failed to score....its ridiculous.
Overall im very happy with his first season, he has done very well, he is a world class player and i think he will become even better next season.

Re: PFA Player of the Year Nominees
is the voting based on the calendar year and not the football season?
anyway
Gabriele Marcotti has said in the past that at some clubs the voting forms for the PFA awards are filled in by one person.

It's just part of being a £30m+ player with world class reputation - people expect more and are more willing to jump in when you don't produce.Sgoater1 wrote:Parks lives wrote:No I don't think it's strange because he'd have one game where he'd score and play quite well, then one game where he went completely missing.

For your comparisons: Fabregas has been injured for much of this yr, so people are hardly going to point out he hasn't scored. Young was not scoring huge amount previously - he's very much a winger, rather than a striker. He was being criticised - at least amongst Villa fans - but it doesn't get reflected in national press, as they don't write/talk so much about Villa!

Where as Giggs had one good game all season and one the fucking award.
Robinho would be in there ahead of Anelka for me.

As much as I hate the c**t, with bit more consistency and effectiveness like say Arshavin, he could easily become the most entertaining player in the league.

Yes, he's only had 1 good game.
Even if that was true, it doesn't mean Robinho has a case. He'd be no where near the top 6 players or a Premier league XI of the season.

Re: PFA Player of the Year Nominees
Players I'd put above Robinho
Vidic
Gerrard
Lampard
Jagielka
Alonso
Rooney
Giggs
Torres
van Persie
Ireland
Young
Hangeland
So even if you want to take Giggs out there's still no way he should make the top 6.

Im pretty sure the original point made by Goater was that there was a case for him being in the TEAM of the season.

Well considering most of those players are attacking one's (Gerrard, Lampard, Torres, Rooney, Ireland, Young, van Persie) he'd find it hard to get in the team either.

No my argument was that Rooney and Giggs were selceted in the top 6 and Robinho has been better than both. Yes other like Van persie, Ireland and Torres hae been very good but they werent selected either so its irrelevent to say they have been better than Robinho (even if they have been )cos the argument is against those who were selected.

There is no case for Binho to be the player of the season. No one really vouched for it. But undoubtedly one of the talented cum entertaining players in the league with ability, and skill.

Re: PFA Player of the Year Nominees
No way Rooney has been better? Have you watched him the last 3-4 months. He's been our best attacking attacking player by a long way, playing in all different positions.
Even on stats he's alot further in front.
Rooney 41 games, 20 goals, 10 assists. 0 penalties.
Robinho 37 games, 14 goals, 9 assists. 1 penalty.
Didn't Robinho go about 3 months with out a goal at one point?

Re: PFA Player of the Year Nominees
Robinho hasn't been that good. He flourised at the start, then faded...along with a personal problem, that was well publicised. When Robinho came to Upton Park, I was quite excited to see what he could produce. However he was outshone by two players who are under 21 years of age, with only a handful of first team appearances. I don't see how Robinho has any claim to be in the team of the season...based on what I've seen from quite a few games.

John Hartson to offer some impartial views on the matter.
"Personally, he probably wouldn't have got my vote'' There you go a fellow Welshman obviously speaking sense
'' Van der Sar would have," Hartson told BBC Radio 5 Live.
Just looked at the state for the whole season. Giggs has played 42 times 4 goals and 14 assists. So it's how you look at it. Just solely on the league hell no but i doubt people just vote on the league to be honest.

Well Robinho has been playing on the wing whilst Rooney is a striker plus thats in all comps this award is based on EPL games isnt it? were Rooney has 12 in 27 whilst Robinho has 13 in 27.
